Mantis 7DFPS: Day 1, The Race Begins

So the race begins. I've managed to get most of my resources prepared, but I'm facing a big challenge to start the Game Jam: I'm several hundred miles away from home - my 'real' job as an audio engineer has me in San Antonio, Texas, where I've just finished the leg of a tour I'm on. I'm off today and will be travelling home in the afternoon. Despite an acute lack of sleep, I managed to get up early this morning, boot my trusty MacBook over to Win7 and got busy:

Using Beyond Compare, MSVS and Torsion, I've taken the source code and scripts from my test projects and merged them into a stock download of T3D 3.6.1. After four hours of code crunching, I have a working game with teamplay and some basic assets.

As I post this, I'm about to hop on a plane home to Los Angeles and as soon as I get home I'll finish the days' tasks.

If you don't win:

  1. We will burn a GG symbol on your front lawn.
  2. We will make you write a lengthy summary of your experience complete with photos and impressions.
  3. You will be tied with just your underwear to the nearest flag pole.
  4. Many people will call you and breath heavy in your phone without talking.
