T3D Proto 90: Missing in Action

I want to apologize to the Torque community. I have been MIA on my Prototype progress. I got sidetracked by self interest, financial responsibilities, and life in general. So the T3D Proto 90 project is on hold at the moment.

I plan on continuing the project after I sort some things out. I kept thinking I would pick up on it and continue on, but time is catching up with me. Some other projects will be taking priority and some of that work will filter into the Proto 90 work, but it must be done first.

The good news is I will be working with a game designer to use the T2D engine to possibly target the Android platform. So I will be getting some first hand experience with that engine. I am really excited about the work that has been done to bring T2D to Android.

One of the sidetracks I took really opened my eyes to the importance of modding to a game. Especially a game that is sandbox in nature. I have played a number of sandbox style games: Morrowind, Oblivion, and recently Minecraft. I spent about 2 months really playing Minecraft this last year. I have even jumped into understanding the modding side of things. I have to say that it was an eye opener. That community is massive and will continue to get bigger. Mostly because of the modding capabilities of the game (IMO). If a game designer is not really looking at games that can be modded for a sandbox game, then they are missing the boat.

Anyway, sorry about the delay on my Proto project. Hopefully I can get back on that by next calendar year.

Dude. Forsaking your commitment to us in favour of petty things like life is Not Okay. You should be ashamed.

Looking forward to hearing more! This is one I have been waiting for :). And T2D is a great engine, I'm excited to see what you do with it!

Yeah, there I go again. Trying not to get evicted...

I mentioned the Torque 3D engine in a Minecraft IRC channel. I was praised for not suggesting Unity and they were very favorable for T3D.

So both engines are getting favorable mentions from outsiders.

Thanks guys!
