With the demise of XNA

by StuporMundi · 02/04/2013 (9:42 pm) · 6 comments

Now that Microsoft has done a Macbeth on XNA I thought it an opportune time to post a link to a friend's kickstarter campaign for a game he has been making in XNA. He just get's into it, as he's more of an artist, as Microsoft throw the baby out with the bathwater. It's a thankless task game development.

I've been trying to get him into using the Torque Xbox for ages but for a game artist he's very 'roll your own', here's hoping the early death of XNA will encourage him to use a real game engine.

Haha, I like his video and he does awesome artwork. Very clean and neat.

I don't know all his requirements, but I am guessing it could all be done in T2D. If he needs 3D then T3D probably could work, but it might need more work than T2D. I think T2D has a render from 3D to 2D tool or something. If he is close already then it might be better that he finish with what he is using now.

Yes, he's pretty close, but there's a few people here who are fairly knowledgeable with the Torque XNA so it might be just what he needs, that little bit of help to get it done. And the more people we can get using Torque stuff the better.

Former Torque developers and advocates for C#/XNA, Sickhead Games, also support Monogame as a viable solution for developers. They used it to port their Armed! game from WinPhone 7 to other platforms.

@Michael

Thanks, I'll pass that on to him. He's not really a programmmer and was a bit disheartened by the XNA news. I explained he could get at least a few more games out of it, and this Monogame should make it easier to port the game over, which he wants to do anyway. So both I and he appreciate the help you guys are giving.
