The IPS Pro Demo
Now the time has come for you to witness the power of IPS Pro with your own eyes!I created an IPS Pro Demo application and packaged it so you can try and test it out yourself.
This is actually quite big for me since this is the first time I package and publicly release anything made in Torque3D!
First some goodies
I created a video so if you are not into downloading it you can just watch this instead, or if you simply wanna know what you download you can do that here aswell.Does it look good? Then keep on reading, now you might wonder why I would spend time creating this demo instead of just working on releasing the IPS Pro, but the truth is that creating demos like this is an excellent way of doing QA and bug fixing. New bugs keeps popping up and old bugs peep out from their holes again all the time and it's hard to keep up, so I just focused on: "If I can release something that works with IPS Pro, I must have been making some progress atleast" and here it is and lots of bugs was fixed during the development!
The download
You can download the IPS Pro Demo here and read the manual here.Getting in on the alpha!
Well needless to say, I can't find every bug or severe performance issue there might be, on my own and I wouldn't want to have very buggy code on 'the great release' so I would greatly appreciate some help in the form of alpha testers. Does this sound interesting to you? Then keep reading! The disadvantages of being an alpha tester:
- Great chance of encountering bugs in the code.
- Need to report every bug encountered and give a somewhat detailed description of where, when and how.
The advantages of being an alpha tester:
- Earlier access to IPS Pro
- Bragging rights
- 50% off the price
- 1 additional free expansion
- Influence on what features there will be in the first expansion (the FFA expansion)
Just to clarify, you only have to alpha test on the initial release and not the coming expansions (tho if you want to keep alpha testing to sustain advantage #1, #3 and #5 you are welcome to do so)
Feel tempted?
Contact me at lukaspj@fuzzyvoidstudio.com and I will bring you up to speed.I need maximally 3 alpha testers so don't hesitate to contact me.
Spots left: 1/3
Edit:
On a completely different topic
I have developed a few simple tools that speeds up the terrain designs process!GC2T3D It started as a a simple GC2 to T3D converter tool ( flips the diffuse map and converts the tif from GC2 to a 16 bit png to avoid terraced terrain) hence the name GC2T3D.
But I ended up adding some more tools to the kit. Now it also has a highpassFilter, and oh my the highpassFilter makes a difference compared to a simple greyscale images! If you don't know how to do a highpassFilter this is a must!
Last but not least is a parallaxMask, basically it takes a black/white foto and overlays it as the alpha mask for another image.

Simple, IPS -> Improved Particle System :) This is not specially for spells, we already have AFX for that which does a brilliant job at it!
IPS can be used for spells but is generally a more overall solution and can be used for environmental effects aswell as for spells and is very simple to use (IMO atleast)
So even though I mainly use it for spells atm it could be used for anything.
To sum it up. IPS is an improved particle system for T3D, nothing more nothing less. It isn't a game specific solution it is simply an extension of the particle system in T3D.

you actually beat me to it, i was home brewing some particles for T3D,
well, not a system but just independent particles based on the existing particle system.
and nothing as fancy as yours, so great job and keep up the good work.
looking forward to see the final product.

@kevin i have not tested it with AFX i would think it is compatible but i cant say for sure. Give me a little time to look through my older releases someone may already have tested it.GC2 is a terrain generation program (GeoControl2)

At any rate, AMAZING job with this. Very talented. We gotta get all the people that release these tools/packs together on a project eventually so we can come up with a killer Torque-made game :)

Amazing work, Lukas! Is that my PostFX Color Correction Pack in this video as well? I've been waiting to see if anybody has a video using my pack to see what some people have come up with is why I ask.At any rate, AMAZING job with this. Very talented. I think it is your PostFX in the video, but in the demo I might just accidentally have deleted the PostFX folder with the color correction xD
It should be the WarmBleach color correction tho if you are going to reference the video!

@Jordan tbh that mightbe both true and false....I think it is your PostFX in the video, but in the demo I might just accidentally have deleted the PostFX folder with the color correction xD

I initially wanted to step up to alpha test, but then I thought about how much work I have on my plate and decided against it. Best of luck with the release.
@Jordan - You're not the only one who wants to do a collaborative effort to push Torque's features. But I'm not letting that cat out of the bag yet. ;)

Very slick, Lukas. Nice job on the presentation there! Also, I was wondering if your character was that Arteria3D model I've seen, and now I know. :)I initially wanted to step up to alpha test, but then I thought about how much work I have on my plate and decided against it. Best of luck with the release.

Yes, I might just throw another test soon before launch as a part test, part marketing, that might synch better with your schedule!

@Lukas - haha, no worries :) I'll make note of that

If anyone downloaded the GC2T3D the highpass filter had an issue because it couldn't find the composite executeable I added it to the archive now so you shouldn't have any more issues with it (I hope)
