INTRODUCTION
My name is Kory Stanley and this will be my first blog here at the garagegames. This is blog is to give some background on us and to introduce our project "Nightmare: Origins. My brother and I've been around garagegames since 2002 -2003 (the TGE days), and have move the project from Tge to TGEA, then from TGEA to T3D. Finally we got the project moving at a good pace!

BREIF HISTORY
My brother had an idea for a game back in 1997 and throughout the years he has been polishing the game and mechanics for it. In hope one day he'd get a chance to do the game. Flash-forward several years in to the future. While in college, he pitched the idea of the game to a few of his college friends.
Soon after we began working on our first independent game project on the T3D engine called "Nightmare: Origins" (Working Title). After years of development, and up's and downs. The team is now down to My brother and I. Now we are calling a little team (hopefully one day our company) Innovative Imaginations.
Currently I'm managing one project using the "sunburn" engine and he is managing the "Nightmare: Origins" project using T3D. Our main goal currently is to finish a demo version hopefully by next year and a full version release soon after that.

What is Nightmare: Origins?
Nightmare: Origins is the first part of a saga we are calling "Nightmare". Nightmare: Origins is our overall visions of a true survival horror. With our game pushes the elements of traditional action/survival horror to their limits; offering quick and tense action, an suspenseful story,1 to 4 players (co-op); online capabilities; first and 3¾ camera views. The player will pick one of ten players. They will have to navigate that player through different nightmarish scenarios overran with blood-thirsty zombies, werewolves, vampires, and other menacing ghouls. The whole time piecing together a dark puzzle of this dream realm.

Who's developing Nightmare: Origins?
Nightmare: Origins is being developed by Innovative Imaginations. the team has been developing the story and design aspects of the title for almost 7 years. During that time I was able to meet some extraordinary and talented artist from ZbrushCentral.com. The project has been under physical development for the last month. What is complete
Currently the camera has been done, along with a number of shaders and models. Ron and Dan are hard at work knocking out the projects levels. The programming most of the basic things have been done, there is still thing on the networking side that are needing done. The co-op gameplay still needs to be programmed. Our next goal is to fully implement the final programming and art to the build and soon after move into a alpha stage. As I mentioned before we are aiming toward a demo first maybe of a few stages. Enough to give a person an idea of whats going on on the game. Hopefully we'll be able to pick up funding somewhere and ready keep the project moving and to the visual level we are aiming for. We are also still needing help in the areas above.

This is the first of many development blogs we will be posting as we proceed towards the end of development. I'll be also releasing more info about the project and the process. I've heard the "this is your first game why start with something this big", and "wouldn't this game cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to create". I honestly would like to keep this game 100% indie. From the freelanced artists to the soundtrack, to show that you don't need to have a large budget or big studio to create a AAA quality game.

Finally, I would like to thank Garagegames for his outstanding engine as well as all the community. I once seen a statement made on one of the forums, saying that "if T3D had a breakthrough title it would get the attention and respect it deserves". Well hopefully this project will do just that!

Thanks for reading.

Until the next blog.
