Since some weeks, i'm working on the evolution of the game alchemy pack#1 in waiting the GG Approbation and here the content of the first upgrade.

The whole of the gui focus has been replaced with a personnal work for cancel the EULA problem quoted in the first post.

Game Alchemy Pack 1.1

Bug Fix
Crash when several animations are running and when we close the window or than we use the quit() command in the script(FIXED)
Infinite sound loop with the score bar when playSoundOnNewScoreReached is ticked(FIXED)
Video on texture not playing(FIXED)

Enhancement

  1. The timer and the countdown may now be synchronized with the time from server.
  2. Integration and enhancement of the WebKit, re-architectured(oriented object and reaffected to the main thread due to the Qt design)
  3. img135.imageshack.us/img135/6476/webctrl.pngWhat are the enhancement for the web kit?
  4. On a texture target you can now redirect the keyboard input
  5. We can use the wheel of the mouse.
  6. The size of the texture is now dynamic.
  7. We can set the Url in the editor, without various string artefacts :[
  8. We can now set a zoom on the view independtly of the size of the texture.
  9. For the 2D rendering, we can use the Gradient System(color and alpha).
  10. For the 2D rendering, an offset of texture can be added.
  11. For the 2D rendering, an texture border can be added.
  12. The texture still without repeats when we resizes the control with a dimension greater than of the size of the texture.
  13. Native and Popup control have two experimental options (Window and Dialog) in order to add a frame with icons, but only the NO_FRAME options is stable.
  14. img205.imageshack.us/img205/3425/experimentaloptions.png
  15. Of course, the 2D web ctrl can be animated.

Demo

I have remade a bit the level Chinatown, mainly in order to show how to enhance the menu and the Hud of a game.

  1. quickly show the interactions between the system of animations for the gui and the events in game
  2. Score Bar with loop on digits
  3. Alarm
  4. Alert
  5. Health pulsing,
  6. The bottom animation when switching the input to the web
  7. Custom cursor
  8. Small bonus
  9. The system of gradient is used for all the hud.

The sounds have not been captured in the video, but if you play with the demo you will hear all the sounds synchronized with the animations and the gameplay.

Well, now the videos for the small demo and the web kit

Enhancement of the menu

Enhancement of Hud
When we shoot a turret we can gain some points of score,
when we pick a heart we get 10 on health and some score,
when we die we lose some score,note the countdown is still synchro,
when health is lesser than 50, begins to pulsed.

Are you guys including modified artwork from the 2D GUI HUD Creator? As it appears in the first and third video you are using several components that have been modified from our artwork in your pack which is very clear to us, and would be in breach of our licence agreement. The artwork produced using 2D GUI HUD Creator can be only used in games, not to be sold in other packs. Please contact us as this is the second time we've had to contact you about reading the EULA. Anyone who uses the artwork in their games without our licence will also be in breach of this agreement.

@S2P,
The first time that you are talking is just a picture with a potion that i had posted in the community for say how the product is easy! Great Publicity, no?
www.garagegames.com/community/blogs/view/21611

yes i have used 2D Gui HUD Creator for the circular focus and the green selector(all the other gui, are full custom or in the stock) but i have bought the product for help me to do this kind of thing, i don't really understand why i can not use. The demo is really a demo, not sold, the artworks are not licenced to the final user, it's really only for personnal and learning purpose, about the GameAlchemyPack. The final user will buy the GameAlchemyPack, not the demo, the demo is free.

Now if this is really an EULA violation, may be can we discuss for allow me to use the two elements that i have composed with 2D Gui Hud Creator. If not possible, then i will simply remove and replace with some pure custom gui.

I wish highlighted that it was for me important to show what we can to do, it was not for offend you. I knew that you and the users would recognize the art from 2D Gui HUD and i no thought that it was a an EULA violation but more a great publicity. Sorry. I'm very disapointed.

@Tom
It's safe,just a little problem with S2P but in the worst case, i will replaced only 2 gui that i have composed with 2D Gui HUD Creator, by a fully customized.

Correction

After the mail i have received, i have to remove the 2 GUI(Circular Focus and Green Selector)

Update within some hours!

@Jean -

In our EULA you can create screenshots of the GUI/HUD artwork from 2D GUI HUD used in games. I did email to let you know that you need to be careful of the EULA as posting artwork in its raw or assembled format would break the agreement, and if someone copied the artwork from the page and used it in their game they would also be in breach of this.

In our EULA:
You may show screenshots and videos of the ARTWORK created, but only if they are shown within your game. Creating raw screenshots of exported artwork and showing them publicly is not permitted, as this may result in 3rd party copyright theft.

In the above video you are using our artwork to make a demo to sell your product, which is (a) mis-leading to the end user as you have not said that the artwork is not included and (b) you did not ask us for permission to use the assets in your products demo or videos.

Our business relies on sales from the products we create and invest time and money into, so whilst we don't want to take action, we are simply asking that you remove these from your product/demo and videos, and to avoid our artwork from being included in your end product which could have caused all sorts of problems. You can always ask us permission for the artwork to be included in the video demo, and give credit where credit is due in the blog posts and videos - which may be counter productive for your own sales.

@S2P
I invest also lot of time and money for make this work but i believe that i have not the choice, the law is the law.

@Jean-Louis - Best to be aware of the law, and licence restrictions to avoid problems further down the line. If in doubt - ask or obtain permission first, saves a whole lot of red tape.

Quote:as this may result in 3rd party copyright theft.

The proper term would be "copyright infringement," no matter what the RIAA/MPAA would have you believe. It is a civil violation; theft is a criminal violation, and inapplicable in this circumstance. =)

@Joe - you are correct - I leave all that jargon to the people that know. Our latest EULA covers this term, which is less harsher than saying it's theft from a 3rd party, but you'd still be in possession of stolen goods (digital or otherwise). Copyright laws change from country to country, not sure if the terminology stays the same.

Anyway, it's all being resolved now.

Any news on the release of this from GG yet?

At the stage now where I either need to integrate the webkit and stuff myself (which I am really not in the mood for) or use this. :)

BTW @S2P: Just picked up your product too ... this thread reminded me that I wanted to buy it ... hehehehe.

@Quinton - lol thanks - I'll action that now for you.
#12
06/04/2012 (5:36 am)
@Jean-Louis - I can confirm that you've removed our artwork from your products demo/videos.
#13
06/04/2012 (6:42 am)
@S2P - Thank you for the confirmation.

Well, also for canceled all confusion with GG(if there is), the demo will be delivered only for the buyer of the GAP that are licensed for T3D 1.2, because the chinatown level is owned by GG in first place and is delivered with the version 1.2 of Torque and not the version 1.1.

@Quinton

The guy's of GG are down a QA resource... So, It's out of my hands. If it becomes too longer(one or two weeks again), i would be forced to put a store on my web site and and I would be forced to cancel with GG sadly. :`(

I believe that Jean-louis will be selling it on his site until all of the tax documentation, etc goes through to be able to sell it on our site. We love the pack and want it up as soon as possible, but the government can be a little slow. :)

Yes, in waiting the full activation on the GG Store, i will begin to sell it on my web site. So, i will post within some hours, some news on the version 1.2 of the pack(bugs fix, optimizations and new features) but for the store it may take me again 3-4 days for put it on my web site after the release of the 1.2 version. 1.2 comes this week. I know that it may appearing without end but i'm alone for to do lot , (web site, store, GAP for T2D, GAP for T3D, documentation, packaging, daily managment, a part of the GuiKit#2, etc).

I prefers open the store officially just after the version 1.2, because you could take benefits of the new features and modifications directly.

Don't worry, this week will be nice. Thank you for your support ;)

@David
It's great for me to read "We love the pack", thank to all GG team.
