Cavorite 2 Now Available for iOS and More News!

Full Disclosure; I'm exhausted!
Cavorite was just a twinkle in my eye in March 2010. When production kicked into full gear around November that year, I couldn't have anticipated that the game (and its sequel) would dominate my time until March 2012. What a crazy run it has been.
Cavorite 2 has launched and is available in the iOS App Store today. (It will arrive in the Mac app store likely in early April.) It began as an expansion pack to Cavorite, our most popular game by far. But as development rolled forward, it became clear to all of us that it the amount of innovation and content was better suited for a sequel. So what started as a plan to crank out new levels within a month became a 4 month full blown new game, complete with feature upgrades for our dated (iTGB 1.3.1) engine: retina, ipad universal, etc.

Cavorite 2 really is Cavorite mark 2 and not simply because the game mechanics remain the same. It was a chance for me to take the lessons learned from the first and put them into practice this time around. Development went smoother and everything was more prepared for launch -- reviewer notification (complete with press kit), updated website, and trailer video.
In a way, this is our most important game launch yet. For starters, it will help prove is Cavorite was a fluke success, or if it really is sustainable to create games with five folks each taking a slice of the pie. Furthermore, it's my first game launch as a true indie -- I officially live off contracting and games at the moment. Thus far, it's scary and exciting. Cavorite 2s success will make it more one or the other.

So what's next for the ragtag crew of creatives called Cascadia? First priority will be getting Cavorite 2 in the Mac App Store. (Money = food = I stay alive to do other things.) After that, the TGB Kart Kit gets top priority. I'll do a relatively "quick" update to ensure it is compatible with the latest iT2D. Then the original Cavorite gets a little bit of spit-shine to keep it in sync feature-wise with its sequel. Finally, the TGB Kart Kit will get a massive, loving update, as it will be used as the engine behind our next big game project: Wacky Wheels!

Yup! Cascadia Games has done no less than licensed Wacky Wheels from 3D Realms. The same team from the Cavorite series will be back to create an awesome, modern version of the Apogee classic. Once the game is wrapped up, you can bet the game's new features will be translated back into a new version of the kart kit. I loved this game as a great PC alternative to Super Mario Kart and I know many others did as well.
That's it for now. I hope to start blogging more in the future with my newfound freedom. Until then!

I'm stunned and excited about Wacky Wheels, never thought I'd see that again, used to play it as a ton when I was younger. Looking forward to seeing videos on that!

I looked for "2" in the Mac App store but couldn't see it - do you think it is worth the effort in porting to the Mac?

It's not in the Mac app store yet but it's definitely worth it. The first one had a nice revenue boost thanks to it. :)
