Looking for a team up!

Sometime ago I posted a GG blog about my quest of finding someone to pair up with on finishing a small project I was working on. I found someone, we discussed details but (as it does do) real life creeped up and snatched him away from me, so I'm on the hunt again.
I figure this time around I'm going to lay out all the cards on the table. If you're interested please email me at: mack@xrucifix.com with 'Natural Condition' in the title - serious inquiries only.

Natural Condition is a simple territory capture strategy game where two teams (Nature and Progress) have to capture Neutral or Enemy land to expand their control and get resources to buy more troops. The objective is to capture the other teams base.
Units
Each team consists of four units with different functions:Seeder:

Seeders are a non-combat unit who have a 'poison' attack on the hex, they toss seeds down which linger above the hex. After the hex has taken enough 'damage' it will convert to the players side.
Grunt:

Grunts are a combat unit who can attack the seeders 'poison' cloud, killing it off, they can also attack other units.
Commander:

Commanders are a stun and light combat unit, they use their abilities to hook onto enemy units to pull them into the Commanders territory. They then attack the unit with a chance to either stun or lightly damage.
Champion:

Champions are a heavy damage combat unit, while slow, they have plenty of health and when closed in on an enemy unit can often convert them in a couple of hits.
Information on Converting:
Once an enemy unit looses all of their health they will convert to the players team. Players can tell which units are hurt as they have sick idle and sick walking animations.Information on Hexes:
If a enemy unit steps on a players Hex the Hex will slowly damage the unit until the unit looses all of it's heal and converts to the players side. Hexes that are damaged themselves will heal overtime.Headquarter Bases:
Simplistic functionality, players click on these to bring up the buy screen to buy units. The objective is to attack the base till it looses all of its health, thus capturing it.What is done:
Everything you see here is done and shown inside of Torque 3D 1.2, the models are animated. I'd just need to have some particle effects done. I also have an SVN, I'll have to update it to get it back up to par. If you wanted to use yours that's fine as well.
Help Wanted:
I am looking for a programmer as I have limited talent in this craft. Other than the gameplay functionality I would like an AI to play against the players.Split of whatever sales of the game come in will be split 50/50. If you only want to code and don't want to be involved in the business side that's fine, I will send you reports of the sales as they come in (typically monthly), I already have a few digital distribution sites setup who are interested in the game.
Ideally I'd like to have the game integrated with Steamworks for their matchmaking services. I understand that the game would have to be in a fairly completed state prior to taking it to them. I think it'd be beneficial that, while having an option to wait in a lobby, the player could launch a game VS the AI and the AI is booted and the level restarted when a player joins.
While I'm open to discussing design and changing things around I would also like to get down into the dirt of development and start cranking out builds to play test to get a good feel for the game and build maps for it.
If you're interested please email me at: mack@xrucifix.com with 'Natural Condition' in the title - serious inquiries only.
(The headquarters models and hexes were done by the talented Adam deGrandis at www.adamdegrandis.com. I highly recommend working with him)

Looking good Mack!

For my part, I can say working with Mack is a pleasure. One of the perks of freelancing is you get to do a little bit of picking-and-chosing of your clients, and so my client list is 99% people I like who work on cool stuff. But even among that list, Mack stands out. Great communicator, very patient, and he has (in my opinion) a great little seed of a game here. Serious coders, get in touch with him.

In my experience, any programmer that's good enough to work with will not be available for free. Working for royalties is the same as working for free, because there's no guarantee of payment.
My advice is that you either save up some money to hire a really good programmer and get this game finished in a few months, or else learn to program yourself and expect to finish the game in a couple of years. I chose the second option and don't regret it for a minute.

Hello Mack - this looks great, I hope you will get to finish it. I was in a similar situation to you a few years ago, I had prototyped a strategy game for the Nintendo DS and was looking for programmers to help develop it. It never went anywhere so I decided to learn programming myself by picking up Torque Game Builder. Since then I've been making games myself. In my experience, any programmer that's good enough to work with will not be available for free. Also some nice Packs from the GG Store could help you out too here are some:
AFX 2.0 for Torque 3D - nice effects!
Guide Bot - to add some AI to your game characters.
PD Particles - Create your own effects!
There are a lot of good add on's and programs written for Torque.
Of course if you can afford it, someone to help or do the coding for you
can't hurt, as long as you try to learn what they do so you can do it yourself next time!

I'd invest in some good Torque books (I can give you a list of the ones I purchased!) and learn how to script yourself. Also some nice Packs from the GG Store could help you out too here are some:

It's very interesting as concept, have you a "game design" document ? , how many hex level have you now for the progress faction and for the natural faction?
How many programmer have you found and what are their roles?(network, gameplay, interface, system or other)
you can contact me if you wish : "gamealchemy.contact@gmail.com"

Thank you all for your comments. I've received many replies from programmers interested in collaborating on the project. Right now I'm responding to everyone and answering questions, I will get back to each one of you.Quote:Jean-louis: have you a "game design" document?Yes, the full documentation goes over the units, hexes and mechanics in detail and includes a step by step process of two players joining a game together and playing till completion.
Quote:Jean-louis: how many hex level have you nowVisually there's (x3) hexes per team.

Hope you'll be able to setup team to implement to implement it.
My only advise will be keep it as simple as it can be and get working prototype as fast as you can.
The games are can be evaluated only via actual game play.

Have you decided on a programmer? I'm eager to hear more on this project.

Don't worry. I saw the pic up the top and thought "that looks like Adam deGrandis' art!"
Then I thought "Mmmm.... 3D hex...."

I believe I've found a good match for the game, thanks everyone for emailing me! The response over the past 10 days has been fantastic and it's great to see so many Torque vets eager to group up.

Pretty cool idea. It reminds me a little bit of game called "Greed Corp".
I love graphics. What a pity that i can't help you with programming, cause I'm new to Torque, but i keep my fingers crossed ;)
