A New Torque X Programming Book

For several months now, I've been recieving requests and queries about updating my last book, The Complete Guide to Torque X. That book was a great resource for learning how to create Torque X 2.0 2D and 3D games for Windows and XBox 360. However, over the years, Torque X has continued to advance with new features and capabilities along with the advancements in XNA. And now I am excited to share that a new book is finally on the way.
Soon, I will be releasing Xbox 360 Programming with Torque X. This book is based on the very latest Torque X 4.0 2D and 3D game engines with new reference material, examples, best practices, and downloadable source code. It will replace my former book as the current definitive guide to creating 2D and 3D games with Torque X.
The book will be available in both paperback print on Amazon.com as well as eBook format through the iBookstore. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

@Ronny: His was put on hold because of IA closing the doors and out of his control. I hope he has been allowed to continue but have not seen him in IRC to ask.

@Donald:I know about the situation, and last time I saw him on IRC he was open to alternative distribution. So it seems he has full rights to his book :)

I have definitely not left Torque X behind and it's still my very favorite game engine. Pino has done an amazing job driving it forward. The book work is already in progress and is a very time consuming effort. It's completely based on CEV 4.0 and will have a lot of new code samples. It's a delicate balance to choose between releasing the book sooner for waiting developers and delaying the release for more content. I'll look into working the state machine model and some A* pathfinding. If there are any other requests, I'd like to hear about them ASAP. No promises to get them in, given the tight deadline, but please let me know if there's anything you would like good examples for.John K.

Also maybe some hints on how to get an existing Torque3D game ported, or why it is a total noob-question, since i haven't read your book yet ;-)
Maybe that is in there anyway. Haven't got the old one, but will definitely get your new one!

@John: A chapter for an example game would be great. It may sound huge, but only a basic game with most of the features like gui, a player character, one trigger event and some shader. Just so that everything is connected. Also maybe some hints on how to get an existing Torque3D game ported, or why it is a total noob-question, since i haven't read your book yet ;-)

Great news, hopefully it won't be too long, although I understand the need to balance releasing sooner and adding content.

Does it include how to do Kinects? Because if it doesn't I would hold the press.

John, My only request would be make two sections, one for 2d and one for 3d. The first book mixed them together and made things a bit cumbersome when focusing on one or the other.

I support Terence request! In my case, I wanna do 3D. Maybe 2D for fun, one day.

Is the book still in progress or is it on hold?
