Indie Games Advertisement Network

Hey guys,
We all know that advertisement is core to our biz, so a dedicated Indie network offering banner exchange is quite important. I had this project in a corner and a couple of days ago during a mail exchange with Tim Newsome-Ward it came back to me, so I decided to give it a go right away :)
I’ve setup this to carry out the following ads formats:
Leaderboard (728x90)
Wide skyscraper (160x600)
Large rectangle (336x280)
Medium rectangle (300x250)
Rectangle (300x100)
Full banner (468x60)
Half banner (234x60)
Vertical banner (120x240)
Vertical rectangle (240x400)
Button 1 (120x90)
Button 2 (120x60)
Square button (125x125)
Square Pop-Up (250x250)
Pop-Under (720x300)
Micro Bar (88x31)
More format will be added upon request.
The above formats are for banners (png, jpg, gif) and can be delivered as fixed or floating DHTML. Inline and Overlay videos are available as well.
To apply for this banner exchange program all you need to do is to send me the following info:
• Website URL
• Name
• Contact
• Country
• Language
• Formats you want to be delivered to your website (as many as you want!)
• Opt-in/Opt-out to receive also OpenX ads (this will be used to finance the server bandwidth)
I’ll send to you the code to insert in your website. The Ad server is the OpenX Ad Server, so it’s supported by most of the current platforms (Wordpress, Drupal and so on).
Obviously all of you are strongly invited to create your banners and send them to me so that I can put them online for distribution. All banners will also be sent on the OpenX Market.
Cheers,
Pino

glad you like the idea :) Actually the system can freely be used in-game because I'll send you a piece of HTML code for each requested format, so retrieving it in the game is quite simple ;)

True, but measuring views - not so much. Having to integrate a web browser is way too tedious and makes your code bloated. cURL and some engine specific code on the other hand would do pretty well imho. What still needs to be worked out is how views are measured.

But I think solving that would justify more injected code to verify the launch of a game a'la GameSpy or Steam. I too have been thinking of working on something that would be fast, small and very much accessible over many platforms, but there are still a number of obstacles to solve. Reliability is a major concern here, so I believe that embedded ads would need a completely different approach than what we see on the web or in other forms of media today..

Konrad, instrumentation of the advertisement server, not the game... just an idea.... could you use Google Analytics to measure activity on your servers? The game would have to pass through the user profile ID, the game ID and the content ID to the advertisement server <encrypted> which is then instrumentatized?

Fantastic idea Pino! I too will make and send some banners to you. Eager to try your HTML code and learning about how to retrieve it in the game.Konrad, instrumentation of the advertisement server, not the game... just an idea.... could you use Google Analytics to measure activity on your servers? I'll make sure to send some banners your way in the coming weeks and make some space on the Bitgap.Com and TorqueBay.Com websites.
Perhaps extending this to in-game advertisement would also be a good idea - I guess that'd require a library that could be easily integrated, but this could be a huge thing for both the indie game developer community and as an investment.
