Entries from 10/1 - 10/15
Man I don't even have an excuse. Monday rolled around and I suddenly thought "hey, did I wrap up journal entries last week?" I actually had to go to the site to check because I couldn't remember. So yea I guess I do have an excuse - early Alzheimers onset. Say your goodbyes now.
Journal Land Pick of the Week
Adventures in Game Design - what are some questions you may be asked at a job interview? zer0wolf sat down with BioWare Austin recently (good luck!) and here's an idea of some of the questions they posed to him.
Welcome back, dgreen02!
Project Updates
* Blue stain - if you look at alfith's journal I'm not to be held responsible if something sucks your face. Something... alien
* Once a Bird - Looking at particle engines? Here's one: Demosthenes has hooked up the Mercury Particle Engine V3.0 to his project
* The Bag of Holding - Hear ye! Hear ye! Check out Release 10 of ApochPiQ's Epoch language
* Journal of Eternity - check out the release EternityZA's project Spheres of Madness, a "match 3 bubble game with some unique features".
Game Dev Stuffs
* phyletic gradualism - sprite_hound has found this blog called Code Kata that lists programming exercises you can do to (theoretically) improve your Code Fu. Check it out, Grasshopper
* /* Why you crying? */ - JTippetts talks about Mikko Mononen's Recast and Detour libraries, which are a pair if great tools used to generate and then path out a navmesh
* Just Glad to Be Here - rmadsen is back with some more roles to consider looking at as your start in the games industry. They aren't roles commonly used to get into the game biz, but if you're coming from another industry and have the experience, you might be able to take advantage of that.
* Necron00bicon - jjd has rewritten some of CppUnitLite to use for his unit testing. The updated code is available for download if you'd like to check out his changes and perhaps utilize them yourself
* Promit's Ventspace - Promit wasn't too happy with his Mercurial experience. Check out his review of the version control system and find out to which greener pastures he is moving on to
Other Stuffs
* Any Colour You Like - the latest techno gadgetry project out of benryves' lab is a device that allows you to hook up a calculator with the proper hardware to a TV
* Chronicles of the Hieroglyph - congrats to Jason Z on the continuation of his XNA/DirectX MVP status!
Thanks for stopping by, Programmer16, Matt328, phantom, Aardvajk, dbaumgart
