Introduction
Hi guys, this is Thanhda from Digital Shock. As some of you already know, we are offering 2D & 3D Contract artwork through the Torque Powered Store. This week we are going to showcase some of our art, for a nexgen MMORPG we've been working on. We will be porting this character soon to Torque 3D.
This models tris count is 7.3k without weapons, 13k with weapons.
Now for some additional screenshots.

That is amazing. I am now very curious as to what your mmorpg is about. Please make a blog soon about it :)

Very unrealistic and far too bulky weapons...
Looking forward to more info about that 'next gen' thing ;)

Very Final Fantasy looking. But of very good quality.
@DSN:
It seems that you concept artist seem to have a fascination with pointy heads. They always seem to have either a pointy hat or pointy shape to their head. It is a bit odd.

@Jaren:Quote:Wow that's beautiful. Which modeling program do you use? That screenshot looks like 3ds max to me . but they are also using either Mudbox or zbrush for the detailing.

Anyway we used 3dsmax for the model, photoshop for the texture, and zbrush for the high poly.

I think this would make for a fine example, especially for someone like me, who is considering contracting your company in the near future. ;)

Wow! Say, I have a question for you. Had this have been a model that was contracted through the Torque-Powered store, minus the artwork, how much would it have cost an Indie Developer?I think this would make for a fine example, especially for someone like me, who is considering contracting your company in the near future. ;)

Our prices are case by case depending on the size of the project. Most of our prices will be disclosed after the NDA are signed.

EDIT: No. Wait. I understand, the NDA bars you from revealing information which could help understand the price and scope of further work.
Nevermind then. I shall send specifics on my own contracting at a later date. But, for the sake of staying on Topic.
It's definitely a beautiful model that does more than stand up to even the recent Final Fantasy.
Looking forward to hearing more about this MMO, and how it hopes to contend with other MMOs. I have faith that you will try to do more than just tackle them visually. :) (As stunning as it is!)

I meant on this particular model. Isn't it against an NDA to even disclose original artwork and models visually?EDIT: No. Wait. I understand, the NDA bars you from revealing information which could help understand the price and scope of further work.

I can tell you this much, this model is within its thousands of dollars. not hundreds.

I'm a bit confused on what you mean? This model was created by Digital Shock for Digital Shock. If this was client work, we would not be showing this asset to the public. I can tell you this much, this model is within its thousands of dollars. not hundreds.

I expected around $1,800.00 for example. :)
It was purely for the basis of comparison, and making our own estimates for a project before sending off for a quote. That way we could tailor the actual game design to suit the possible costs beforehand. :)

Oh! What I mean is: If this were an indie contract model, based on the time it took, what would it have cost?I expected around $1,800.00 for example. :)

I'll get back to you all ASAP. My own project won't require such beautiful detail. :)

Ah haaa. See, that certainly makes a LOT more sense than my broken estimate. Heck, my own guesstimate, as they say, wasn't even including all of the weapons.I'll get back to you all ASAP. My own project won't require such beautiful detail. :)
