Verve for TGEA

Despite that TGEA is no longer being sold here at GG, I thought that it would be a good idea to deliver all the goodness of Verve to those of you who haven't yet made the jump to T3D! I'm sure there are quite a few developers out there who are knee deep in a game idea using TGEA and who would like the freedom that Verve has to offer.

What kind of port is this? Well, TGEA doesn't have the same feature set that Torque 3D does, so there are some elements that cannot be ported entirely (things like PostEffect, for example). The big ticket items are the pathing system, Path Editor and the Verve Sequence editor itself.

What about licencing? If you buy Verve for TGEA you get Verve for T3D and vice-versa. There had to be a separation here because Verve for TGEA licence holders will not have access to the Verve for T3D files. You can still pick up a licence for $130USD while the early adopter discount applies! When this offer finishes it will revert to the full price of $150USD.

For those of you who haven't been paying attention to my blogs, you can find out what Verve is by reading through some of the previous announcements!

Verve Actor

There is a pretty good chance that the cinematic sequences in your project will involve some kind of character animation or interaction. The newly added Actor class is a simple character which can attach to paths (both Bezier and Linear) and move around them at various speeds.

This class is a light weight version of Torque's Player class and means that you can have dozens in your cinematics at once.

Please note that the Actor class is not currently working in Verve for TGEA. No ETA on that unfortunately.

Early Adopter

You have one last month to pick up Verve for the tidy sum of $130. Early January 2010 the early adopter program will finish and the full version of Verve will be released. If you are still unsure of whether or not you need Verve for your project, or would like to ask a few questions, just pop over to the Verve forum:

I'd really like to see this ported to Torque X *hint* mainly cause i'm targeting the Xbox Indie Platform and I think Verve would be an Awesome tool/time saver when it comes to cinematics.

Verve is an add-on tool for our flagship 3D engine, Torque 3D. Verve gives you the power to create and display event based sequences, including in-game Cinematics and Cutscenes, helping you connect with your audience and experience the worlds you create.

Matt, as Morrie pointed out, Verve was made for Torque 3D originally and has just been ported to TGEA.

So if we buy TGEA version of this, we DO NOT get T3D version or do we? I didn't quite understand what you meant in the end there...

Thanks for clearing that up and another question... do you accept Pay Pal? Could i pay you directly via Pay Pal and get it added to my GG account to download? Is this possible? Let me know and you will have a guaranteed order for the TGEA version. thanks for the info...

If you buy Verve for TGEA you get access to Verve for T3D only if you have a valid T3D licence. If you purchase T3D at a later date, you can "buy" Verve for T3D for $0.

The only place to purchase Verve is through the GG store:

Thanks man, just ordered and downloading now. Nice that GG has Pay Pal now built in to the web site for orders. Should be an awesome product. Thanks for creating it for TGEA!!!
