Mini Shatranj (Persian / Iranian Chess) is out on iPhone!

Mini Shatranj has been released in the iPhone App Store. Ironically, it arrives just a few days after the Iranian elections... a coincidence that was completely by accident. We'll see if that causes any interest in the game.

This is my first game that has a launch price of $0.99. Call it my experiment in the low end of the price spectrum. As such, it has a different set of features than its predecessors Mini Chess and Mini Shogi. For example, it comes with a single art theme and has ever so slightly less artwork. The tweaks include a change to the engine that requires only a normal and down state for buttons and a greater use of the text bar rather than overlay graphics to indicate game status.

One of the finest features is the game's outstanding Persian music that is worth the 99 cents by itself. Erhan, my friend and musician, continues to create authentic and appropriate sounding music for my games.

Overall, this game was super low risk. I have a flexible game engine that takes only a few tweaks to run virtually any chess variant. The new artwork took an evening. I may not be going at an app-a-day pace, but I'm pleased with my release pace thus far: 3 games and 1 kit in 10 weeks, all released via my newly created business Cascadia Games.
