Cyber-Wing Dev Update

by Devin Passage · 04/23/2009 (11:23 pm) · 12 comments

hello everybody! I noticed last week that we had not posted any updates for almost two months, so i wrangled everyone together to take some new screenshots 20 more of which are located at www.cyber-wing.net

id also like to announce that we have a new team member who has been doing sounds and environmental work. You can already see how much his abilities have improved the look of the game and that's nothing compared to the sounds!

we are still looking for more developers. if you like what you see and want to get involved, you can contact us at www.martianarctic.com. skills which would be highly sought after are AI programming, QA experience or production experience.

thanks and our open beta should be starting soon! please keep checking back as pretty soon you'll be able to play a game that, i know at least for me, has been a dream of mine to be able to play for far longer than i've been working on it.

Had a look at your previous posts and checked out your Cyber-Wing gameplay tutorials. I have to say the game looks very cool - I am definitely going to watch your progress and look forward to beta/release :)

This looks like a great idea. It IS like something I've seen before, though (twice!), and both games were great ;)

It smells a little like the BattleZone remake from way back, and another I can't quite remember the name, of. All I remember is that it wasn't using my 3dfx, to give an idea of how far back in time that was. I've missed more games which did this sort of thing.

thanks for the encouraging words folks! next stop is the trailer, then the beta!!!

@ronny - you may be thinking of Uprising. It had you control one tank, and teleport in troops to capture base objects. Id say Uprising was the most Herzogy action / RTS made aside from Herzog itself. The key difference which i still think is crucial is it did not allow you to directly airlift your troops. i don't want to get on my game design soapbox overmuch here, but the pick up and carry mechanic(Defender mechanic? :) which has so often been overlooked is really the dark secret that made Herzog so competitive, so difficult, and so rewarding to play.
