Dragonfly Software: Updates, Website Downtime

by Steven Peterson · 03/12/2009 (6:37 am) · 4 comments

Our awesome hosting service is upgrading us to new hardware today. Dragonfly Software will experience downtime, but should return before the weekend.

Let me elaborate: I have been using Dreamhost.com for 4.5 years and they have been simply fantastic. All support requests are handled by email, usually in 24 hours. They give us unlimited Subversion Repositories, Databases and full SSH shell-access to the debian web-server. As with ANY shared host we see about <1-3 days of downtime a year. This equates to 99.5% uptime. For $9.95 a month I consider this to be exceptional service.

Recently I complained the server was experiencing a trend of radical CPU spikes. They responded by saying they are "Researching the issue. However [I'm] scheduled to be moved to new hardware at the end of the year and they would be happy to move my account to their newest server-stack immediately."

I've been very happy Dreamhost.com and would recommend them to anyone in the GG community! (referral link: Dreamhost.com )

You can still read about our new product Cirrus Skies in my previous blog and purchase it from the 'tools' section of the GG Developer Store. As soon as our website is back, anyone can register at our forums to post pre-sales / support questions.

Cirrus Skies for TGEA: - is in GG Q&A now and should be released very soon. I know several people are looking for it!

it looks good never tried them i happy with what i using host monster it costs the same and we have unlimited as well. so far only difference from your to mine is your limited to 5 Databases it looks like i can have unlimited i already got 7 Databases running. :P i not the only one using the database though i got some friends using it as well so save money.

i already started on my site but its not finished and i kind of want to wait to release it till i have news to post on my site. :P i not going to use a shared database like this for ever but when i am close to release time i will move it on my own database. i like them both though even though i have not tried your company out i rather just stick to one i already trust. we have owned the database for over a year and have had no downtime what so ever.

o ok then they are basically the same then besides the downtime. i have yet to see any downtime maybe they have some but they go by so fast that i just don't see it. :P

there are differences in the control panel though i like of like host monster better so basically its just a mater of preference and sticking what company you already like.
