Hi all!!!
As of yet...the people who have contacted me about helping make the RPG Starter Kit are:
Programmers
- Jacob Williams
Artists
- Andy Wright
- Jaren Watkins
- Edward
Other people
- none as yet :(
The list for Artists is pretty good, but some more scripters would be great!
At the moment I am still working with Jacob to gain access to some source files for melee combat that he made a while ago...and have been making some simple buildings -> pix at rpgstarterkit.webs.com
So if any of you have any knowledge in things required for an RPG Starter Kit...eg
- Inventory
- Level up
- Save/load system
- magic spells system
- Advanced RPG style camera (screenshot coming soon)
It would be great for you to send me an email to
macz_202 <at> hotmail <dot> com
--------------------------------------------------------------------
At the moment I am working on intergrating the melee system Jacob gave me into a fresh copy of fps.starter (TGE 1.5.2) which every thing will be intergrated into! :)

I was planning on using your improved ai unit with the editor (because it is by far the easiest and best way to add AI) in the kit...but i'm not sure how easily i can intergrate your AI unit with melee combat -> unless you already know how to do this :D

If you adjust the variables (located at the top of aiPlayer.cs) a bit, it may already work with melee (but I haven't tried it). Check the comments here for more info.
Edit: If anyone reading this is currently attempting to make a RPG, I'd encourage you to assist with this kit in any way you can.
After this kit is finished, you can then use it as the starting point for the RPG you want to make. So, in the end, you'd save development time (because other people are helping you with this kit, which will later make up a large part of your games functionality) and the community would get this kit for free (which can help you gain connections and notoriety for your project, as well as experience).

Currently I haven't tried my AI with melee weapons yet. But that is definitely something that I plan to do, because the game I'm currently working on requires it as well.If you adjust the variables (located at the top of aiPlayer.cs) a bit, it may already work with melee (but I haven't tried it). Even if you can't directly help...if you know of any resources for TGE that shows how to do any of the items that will be incorporated into the RPG Starter Kit then it would be great if you could just post any links to them :D

At the moment, i'm working on Level Up and Characteristics System for TGE 1.5.2. After, i think to associate this work with the AFX core in order to obtain a nice magic&spell system. Maybe i can help you...

Well a level up and characteristics system would be great! becasue I can't seem to find any thing about level up systems on the forums, resources or blogs :(
From Max
Ps. Might you also have something to do with a GUI Inventory System?

Yes, i think GUI Inventory System is mandatory but it will be an additionnal layer on the level up and characteristics system in my mind. All inventory Items can to get differents characteristics by example. Also, I still focused on a rock level up and characteristics system and after i wish design an "AddOn" specialy for the GUI Display of any Characteristics in any GUI System(GUI Inventory,GUI Character, GUI Spell&Magic Book,etc...). I will provide my work for the community, if you like, i will offer. just quote or highlight my contribution.Meanwhile, i can't to provide a DeadLine for this work.

For starters I want to make it clear that everyone who helps out in this project will be labelled in the credits, as it is in fact a Community Project ;)
Also...if you can't give a deadline for the level-up, characteristics and inventory systems...that's fine! because i can always work on other things while i am waiting :D
From Max
Ps. It would be good if everyone who has/is contributing to this project go to rpgstarterkit.webs.com (a website i set up) and then click on join mailing list, so I can easily contact you :)
