U P D A T E
Welcome one and all!
I have a major update on my Graveyard Pack as of March 2009. As of now, Alan James, owner of www.monsterpacks.com and maker of the amazing Corridors & Conduits SciFi Construction Kit is joining forces with us at Digital Lightstorm Studio for work on the Grave Yard pack.
Alan has been kind enough to redo my textures for the pack as well as recreate some of the landscape including offering 3 unique sky boxes for the pack, plus some folage and has redone some of the models like the Tombs and head stones that needed some "life" brought to them as only Alan can bring. As of now, here are some of the amazing new screens that will make your mouth drop... it did mine when i saw then for the first time...
To give you an idea of Alan's work talents, check out this before an after shot of the tomb in the pack... this first one is mine and the next one is his...

Now Alan's work...

Release date is set for sometime in the coming weeks here... we're hoping for a March 09 release but as long as things roll as they are, we should see a month's end release. Price should be set for Indies... about $39.95 but we're not 100% that could go lower or a few bucks higher, waiting on Alan to give me the final say as to what we are going to sell it for. The pack will be exclusive to his site at
www.monsterpacks.com so please drop on in there and watch for it...
Honestly, I would have to say myself from personal experience, this has to be the best looking graveyard pack I've ever seen and I've seen a lot in my days working as a game designer. Alan has a talent that really makes products shine... Thanks for the hard work on the pack Alan! Oh and BTW, this is the first but not the last time you will be seeing us working together on projects. Thanks for checking out the blog...
Til next time... stay safe.

PS: Forgot to tell you about the Audio... I did 7 ambient pieces for this pack as well with a wind, wind and rain and wind with rain and thunder in OGG formats. So you are covered with sounds for the pack. As the list grows, we'll blog it for you... Tell us what you think...Will

@ Scott: Thanks... it was a big part due to Alan that this pack looks so polished up. I honestly could not have built as good of a pack without his help. Almost done with it so watch for another, and prob the final update on the pack (release point) in the coming weeks...Will

But your sounds are just awesome, that's one skill you should be proud of.

Will you're new to 3D modeling right? Well you can't expect to be great at texturing and modeling over night. I myself have a long way to go.But your sounds are just awesome, that's one skill you should be proud of.

@Will: Awesome job ... this pack is definitely going in Soul Wars and has been added to the list of purchases that need to be budgeted for over the next 3 months. :)

@ Brandon: Thanks. Alan redid the content pack basically. He put in his own textures and redid the models like the tomb which really looks polished I think. Thanks for the commecnts about the older work on the Graveyard. I always figure it like this... if you think your good there is always someone better then you are at what your trying to do. BUT, to have an edge, it takes practice, and lots of it. Yeah, I'm proud of myself for trying to tackle this pack, and am thankful Alan helped with the polishing of the pack. Without him, I don't think it would have sold as good as I'm thinking it will now.
Thanks guys for the great feedback... oh and BTW was just emailed by Alan... the pack will sell for $29.95 as a price point, not the $39.95 as listed here. I figure I don't want to milk the public on costs since we're all hurting for money as of now. So that new price is the offical one as of this writing. Release date should be soon... as soon as I hear something, I will post it in the final blog with new shots and info.
Take care...
Will

@ Scott: Yeah still fairly new to modeling in general. I really don't model, i use 3d world studio, so really, I don't consider it a modeling system, i like to call it a structure based building system. Yeah, the sounds are my talent but audio content isn't a huge selling point anymore. So that is why I am moving into modeling and that area to help move me from depending upon only the audio stuff to depend upon. I agree, I will get the hang of it, but it takes time as anything worth wile. Thanks for the kind words man, it has helped put a smile on my face.@ Brandon: Thanks. The new price is going to be $29.95 so that is $10 cheaper then what I projected. Still, low enough for anyone to grab up. Hope you enjoy it when it goes live...

@ Quinton: Awesome. Thanks for the great comments. Alan is the guy who polished the pack up thou... I just did the model part, he touched it up and made it shine like it is. Believe me, I was blown away when I seen what he had done to the pack for the first time. Amazing work I think. The new price is going to be $29.95 so that is $10 cheaper then what I projected. Great stuff! I really like the combined packs idea, models and audio built around a central theme.

But so does audio! I've been continuing a crusade to make designers understand how important audio is in a game. Finally, these years developers and designers start to understand the power of sound. So, Will, thanks for taking care of things on the ambient audio side of Torque! :)

Looking good Will & Alan! Better textures do mean a lot don't they? :) But so does audio! I've been continuing a crusade to make designers understand how important audio is in a game. Hey I was thinking.. are you guys planning to make those coffins open or break Diablo style? Now, that would be really cool.

@ Konrad: Thank you so much! Yes, better textures make all the difference I think. Alan did a wonderful job on the texture side of this pack i think. I tried hard to make sure the audio side of the pack is solid and what I would want to have in it if I was buying it. I honestly think the sounds work for the pack and have a strong blend of mood, balance and range to them.
As far as Diablo style coffins... I will look into making a break pack for the next update. It will give me something new to focus on moving forward with some new and exciting content to the pack. I'm always looking for a way to expand the pack, and that will help bring freshness to the next update.. Thanks for the idea Konrad! :-) I honestly didn't think of that.
@ Andrew: Thanks man :-) I think the textures now feel more like eye candy, I just can't seem to get enough of feeling wowed by the new look. amazing how much better something looks with just a bit of tweaking :-).

@ Gareth: Thanks. I decided early on I wanted the pack with an ambient mood or sound, I figured way too many packs are without the sound but that allows for you to build your own sytle of sound for the pack. With this one, i wanted to fully take on a certain style or mood for the pack but I wasn't expecting it to be it's only selling point.@ Konrad: Thank you so much!
