The Great Games Contest is well on its way into Round Four. This is the last round before the site goes public on March 4th, and we're giving away some really great stuff. I don't think enough people realize what they are missing out on. In case you haven't had a chance to check out the prizes I've included the list here:
The Big Three
Weighted Random Drawing:
Goes to a not-quite-randomly drawn contestant. Odds of winning increase via greater quality and quantity of overall participation.
Prize: It's a surprise!
Highest Contributor:
Goes to the greatest contributor to GGE based on a super secret algorithm known only to its creator.
Prize: XBox 360 with XNA Creator's Club Membership
Editorial:
Goes to best user as determined by GGE staff and editors. This winner will be determined by our staff and editors. The decision will be based upon user activity on GGE (game submissions with quality profiles, quality user profile, etc).
Prize: ATI Video Card
Other Categories:
Goes to a randomly drawn contestant. Don't opt-in to this contest unless you can make it to the Game Developer Conference in San Fransisco, March 5-9! The two GDC passes grant you and a friend access to the GDC Expo, five predetermined GDC classes, the GDC Lobby Bar, and GDC events such as IGF and Game Developers Choice Awards and the GDC Booth Crawl. Must be at least 18 to enter this contest.
Prize: 2 GDC Pass ($390+)
Most Popular (Gamer):
Goes to the gamer with the highest popularity rating.
Prize: Penny Arcade Schwag
Most Popular (Developer):
Goes to the developer with the highest popularity rating.
Prize: GarageGames Content Pack
Best Profile: (Gamer/Developer):
Goes to the contestant with the most aesthetically pleasing, content-rich profile as determined by a completely subjective panel of judges.
Prize: $100 newgg.com Gift Certificate
Highest Rated Game (Developer):
Goes to the indie developer who posts the highest rated game for the week.
Prize: Any 2 games on GGE
Most Flash Games Submitted:
Goes to the contestant who submits the most complete Flash game profiles, including a "Play Now" button for each game.
Prize: iPod shuffle
Best Game Review:
Goes to the contestant who provides the best review of a game as judged by our panel of wannabe experts. We are looking for a thoughtful, organized, compelling argument for why you give a game a particular score.
Prize: Passes to PAX 2007
Most Kudos Received (Gamer):
Goes to the gamer who receives the most kudos during the week of the contest.
Prize: Penny Arcade comic book
Most Kudos Received (Developer):
Goes to the developer who receives the most kudos during the week of the contest.
Prize: 5 games from the GarageGames Game Store
Best Game Page By a Developer:
Goes to the developer who posts the most aesthetically pleasing, content-rich game profile as determined by a completely subjective panel of judges. Must have a "Download" or "Play Now" function for said game.
Prize: Featured Game/Developer on GGE and a Developer Snapshot on GarageGames
In addition to these prizes, there are a plethora of cool new features that some of you may have missed: the profile editor has been completely revamped, it's much easier to track game stats for games that you have submitted, developer portfolios are up and usable (including a spot for anecdotes regarding the development process), and much, much more. Check out these new additions to see what you've been missing.
