Outta touch

Whew! I've been outta touch for a long while now! Just thought I would take a spare minute to update anyone interested in my life.
My wife and I are all moved into our new apartment. We just have a few odd boxes here and there to be unpacked and the last carload of stuff to be brought up the stairs (3 flights is a killer =). The apartment is starting to look the way it should. I have already had my first mini-LAN party with my cousin. I set him up on a Celeron 333 with a TNT across the hall on the joke of a computer desk that came built in to the apartment. We had a lot of fun playing HL and UT. He is very inexperienced with multiplayer gaming so I am teaching him. Fortunatley, he is a fast learner and I should have him up to speed by the time both of us gets dsl (he just moved into a new house). To give you an idea of how good the bots in UT are the typical frag counts in HL were like 30/7 in my favor but in UT it was closer to 30/24 (he has played a lot of bot matches in UT).
Well, I've got a new job. I am doing web development contract work for a small company here in Charlotte. I was hired to help clean up a lot of the backend mess and to make the frontend a lot more user friendly. They have a lot of good things going on so it shouldn't be too bad to clean it up but it is going to take some work. I am going to miss being able to spend all day working on the v12 though =(. The day really flies by when you are doing what you love! It is kinda frustrating for me though. I am on the fringe of professional game development work but I can't seem to cross over into the full-time. I am doing consulting work on one project and have been helping out on the v12 (my name is in the Credits =). I'm thinking of starting to look around for some game development contract work to see what I can find but I'm afraid most of the programming contract work will require relocating which is definitely not an option. I could probably do some artistic contract work but that is going to require rebuilding a lot of my artistic skills that have dropped by the wayside b/c of programming. I have been doing some structure design for the beta of the v12 and have been enjoying that =) I would like to do more of that in the future.
Well, back to work...
