Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations. While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support.

Why not create a Torque foundation and try to buy Torque to instant action and release it as Open Source

Thanks everyone. Its a sad day for us and me personally. But we are holding out hope for opportunities on the horizion. Questions are best sent to support@torquepowered.com or licensing@torquepowered.com. We will need to sort through your e-mails over the next few weeks.

What does this mean for us that have invested lots of money developing games on Torque? Does it mean we no longer have valid license? Or does this just mean that only torque development is on hold?

This is very sudden and very sad news indeed. I wish all of you the best, and I truly hope a buyer comes a long so we can keep this party moving! :(

I would guess the license still lets you do whatever it says. Try the e-mail Eric suggested.

Look I plan to use torque x next year for a plethora of games. I hope that is not a problem. I think you should give the source code to pino anyway.

What?! Why?! The Torque development still under development!? Just the On-Browser is closed?!

I guess it depends on whether a company is setup or remains to backup that licence, no company then surely any licence get revoked. Could we have a questions and answers page based on peoples emails please as I'm sure the majority would like to know and would save having duplicates. Probably a bit early to tell at this stage but it would be good to know (what if) so that people can prepare themselves for whatever direction they take.

I'm sure they will work out the details at a later date. They were only informed of this decision around 11 AM Pacific I believe today.

Dudes I wish you all the best, land on your feet. Look at this as an opportunity. I was laid off two years ago come january, it's been exhilarating and a wild ride, your products helped keep me afloat. Thanks

@John B, you have the source, we have the source, everything, the editors all of it, you will still be able to build your games. Aren't you on the CEV? This conversation should go to TX forums.

Can we get a clarification on the current situation regarding continued work on the licences we bought. And a precasious estimate of coming possible changes to what we can and cant with the licence.
I wish the lot of you a happy hunting...

very sad to hear that. Anyway I guess the license all of us have got will be still valid. I am only afraid on how could I get the Torque 360 license in future since I have plans for my game. However good luck to anyone.

No matter what happens from this point on, the past 5 years working on Torque technology (all the way back to TGB) have been a pleasure and have enjoyed both being in the community and working with the community.

I would like to see a SVN head or final build of T3D to catch up on the recent bug fixes.
Also we need license clarification. We still intend to release barring any show stopper bugs.

I know I'd donate to a Torque Foundation Fund for opensourcing the engine. Torque 2D is probably the best 2D middleware I've used. I often refer it to college students who are looking at 2D game development, but few of them have the money to buy a license.
