- Summary:
- I've been doing 3D modeling as a hobby since 2000, when I bought MilkShape 3D. I'd always wanted to create 3D models for games, but I didn't have the cash to invest in a professional modeling suite, such as 3D Studio or Maya. In 2005, I moved up to using Nevercenter's Silo, which I still prefer to other modelers strictly for its mesh editing tools. It also helped teach me the fundamentals of subdivision surfaces - something MilkShape lacks completely. I started teaching myself Blender once the 2.5x alpha was released, having been interested in it before, but turned away by the cumbersome interface of the previous versions. Also, the integrated COLLADA support featured in 2.5x creates a seamless workflow for Torque, and makes it a natural fit for an indie developer on a shoestring budget, such as myself. ;)
Most recently, I acquired Zbrush 4R2, and I'm currently in the midst of learning all the advanced tools included with it. Given my current software set, I'm confident I can produce top-tier art assets for any of the leading, cutting-edge 3D engines that are currently on the market.
