- Summary:
- Ever since I first played Final Fantasy 6, It's been my goal to create video games. I've been drawing my entire life, programming for a year, and writing an RPG script for a year during high school. My primary talent is drawing anime; my secondary talents are coding in C++, and writing.
I've been drawing anime since 8th grade and I'm amazed at its quality and rate of improvement since then. I've finally begun to reach the point where I don't need 'guides' for inspiration and I can draw things proportionally. Within the predominant anime style I use there is a hint of realism that can be atributed to its sci-fi nature. Over the summer I began drawing the monsters for my RPG after an interview in Boulder. My shading technique undoubtedly brings the monsters to life as well as my copious attention to detail. I believe my improvement has come from my ability to take criticism well and my desire to do things to the best of my ability. Commercial arts will have an undeniable effect on my art and allow me to effectively mix both aesthetics and function.
Last year in tenth grade I began my study of programming. I took a QBasic and C++ course during first and second semester. Also, that year was my first real experience with computers. I developed a simple battle program during the last nine weeks of the school year utilizing structures within arrays. This year - now that I'm learning classes, matrices, sorting algorithms, *pointers*, etc. - I'm redesigning it to implement fstreams, to have an advanced AI system, to support multiple party members and enemies, to utilize formations, and to contain area ranged skills and sorcery. I'm a dedicated and determined programmer that hopes to apply everything I've learned.
I believe my writing is improving very quickly with the potential to parallel that of my English teachers. This year I'm taking AP Lang/11S to further improve my writing and my literary skills. I've also written two parts to ths script in my RPG that is approximately 130 pages long. My English teacher is currently critiquing it. I love literature as much as I love art because they're both wonderful tools for imagination and communication. Essays have undoubtedly been a great tool for me. My writing is always improving despite the ease I have with English.
Determination and motivation have been the most useful traits I have for the persuit of my goals and the development of my talents. If I have trouble with anything, I always make a tremendous effort to improve upon it.
