Untrusted Component in TX3D 3.1
by Henry Shilling · in Torque X 3D · 07/17/2009 (5:34 pm) · 24 replies
I uninstalled TX3D 3.0, installed TX3D 3.1 and get this error when trying to create a new project:
this template attempted to load an untrusted component 'GarageGames.TorqueX.TemplateWizard, Version=3.1.0.0, Culture=Nuetral, PublicKeyToken=b3a097a6e74a0ba'
I am using MS Visual Studio 2008, not the express edition.
Any ideas or workarounds?

I had to do a total removal and new install to get this to work. However it will not load the 3.1 3D projects into the builder at all. this is getting pretty frustrating

I'm getting the same error you've mentioned here.
Also, I tried to build the FPS demo and use that with TX3D, but couldn't load any of the scenes (with the project running in VC# Express). Trying this gives me this error:
"Unable to open the selected scene. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Please verify that this game project was built successfully."
Can anyone confirm if TX3D currently works with XNA 3.1? Or should I be looking for a version of 3.0 to install and use?
I'd really like to buy this, but only if it works.

Could this just be a problem in the Demo version?

It appears the installer is copying the project templates to the wrong directory.
The "Starter Game 3D (3.1 )" template is being copied to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\VCSExpress\ItemTemplates". I assume it should actually go to "...VCSExpress\ItemTemplates\XNA Game Studio 3.1"
Likewise, the "Starter Game 3D (3.0)" template is being copied to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\VCSExpress\ItemTemplates\XNA Game Studio 3.1", whereas it should go into "...\VCSExpress\ItemTemplates\XNA Game Studio 3.0"
This means that in VisualStudio (in my case C# Express 2008), when you open the New Project wizard, the 3.0 project appears under "Visual C#->XNA Game Studio 3.1" while the 3.1 project appears under "Visual C#"
Locating and creating the 3.1 project resolved the problem (ie. the error message given above did not display and the project was created).
I guess the error arose because I only have XNA 3.1 installed.

Sorry to keep bumping this, but it appears I've found the source of my troubles. It appears the installer is copying the project templates to the wrong directory.

I am also surprised at the lack of response from the GG staff. I would think they'd be on this trying to make paying customers happy?

I am using VS 2008, not the express. I also checked all the templates and they seem to be where they all belong. This is too weird. It almost seems like they really don't do very vigorous testing before dropping this on us. I am afraid right now to even try the 3.1 update of TX2D as I am in the middle of a project.I am also surprised at the lack of response from the GG staff. I would think they'd be on this trying to make paying customers happy?

I had XNA 3.0, and i tried creating the project using the tmeplate, it crashed. I notice it was a 3.1 template. So, i upgraded to 3.1 and it happens again.

It looks like for the moment it just doesn't work.

Even once I solved the the 'untrusted component' problem, I still couldn't get a project loaded. It looks like for the moment it just doesn't work.

While following the instructions from 'Torque X Builder 3D'.
---------------------------
Error: this template attempted to load an untrusted component ‘GarageGames.TorqueX.TemplateWizard, Version =3.0.0.0, Culture =Neufral, PublicKeyToken=b3a0972a6e74a0ba’. For more information on this problem and how to enable this template, please see documentation on Customizing Project Templates.
---------------------------
I un-installed everything (Visual C#, XNA and Torque) and re-installed everything with the latest stuff in C: to make sure it's not a path problem.
Is there anybody home?

Thanks, I found it today while watching a video I found on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zMss65_7vQ&feature=related
I was just going to tell you. It turns out to be a GG video.
This almost works. I managed to build and run this but with 3 warnings and I can't load the .csproj in the builder. In VC#, it starts. I can see the sky and the ground. The exe also works.
One step closer :)
