dimensions used in TGB and tutorials

I've just noticed something odd that may explain other odd somethings noticed earlier.
In the "Scroller" tutorial that comes with the TGB download, there is a screenshot of the dusk_skyImageMap covering the whole camera view, and you can see its Edit panel. In that screen shot, the size of the image is 199 by 150.
But for me, when the image completely covers the camera view, the Edit panel shows a size of 100 by 75. I.e., half as much in terms of units.
I noticed similar problems with other tutorials, such as the platformer one. The sprites appeared much too big when I followed the screen shots; I had to manually make them much smaller (about half as big, come to think of it) in order to have a reasonable size.
So. What exactly are these units, and how big SHOULD the camera view be? Why doesn't my installation (with which I haven't fiddled much) match that of the tutorials? And if I wanted to match the tutorials, how would I fix it?
Thanks,
- Joe
