"The link color is gray, and the recently visited link color is blue, I think.. I was also interested, so I checked the source, and that's all I found out.

Edit: You have to visit the profile for it to change to blue. "

@Jacob - great news on the plans for the banners, can we ask what they are?

You'll note the big ol' banner is now gone. We still want to improve the visual appeal of the community pages, but for now, it sounds like less is more.

Deborah, I feel the community side of the site needs a bit of colour, but the old banner really was over kill... the width of it was ok its just the height was too much, even on higher resolutions it looked very obtrusive, maybe something thats around 80/100px in height wouldnt look so harsh then the old 900 x 200px one

All the new changes have been really impressive, and I'd say the site is now even more usable than the old site. The most impressive thing I have to say is the speed at which the web team has been delivering all these updates and fixes.

The only thing I ask that be looked at now is to lengthen the life of the login cookie. I would say at least a month, maybe even more. The logging back in every two weeks is getting old, especially since I have to deal with it across 3 computers on the same day or within a day of each other.

Maybe the cookie could renew itself every day you visit the site while being logged in? That way you still get the security of the cookie expiring if you don't access the site for a couple weeks and you would no longer run into the annoyance of the cookie expiring while you're in the middle of reading a thread.

That sounds like a good idea.

However Ive beeing relating the cokkie expiration to the moments in which the guys deliver changes to the site, not something by design. Something interesting to find out anyway.

That was how I was interpreting it initially as well. I'm thinking now it was a bit of both. The cookie seemed to expire with every update, and then when the actual cookie started expiring on its own I just assumed a new update was delivered since the timing expire time was similar to the frequency of the updates.

Someone mentioned in the login thread about the cookies were being set to expire every two weeks, so the next time it happened I checked it to see if that was what was happening. Sure enough, last time it happened was two weeks ago and the new cookie was set to expire today, which it did.

Not sure if it's been asked for already but could we please get dates & times translated to local Timezones on the site - not the biggest issue the world will face but it's a real bug for me.

I just noticed that the TGE(Private) forums are still not showing up in all unread posts.

I just noticed the new addition in preferences to have IRC Hour transcripts sent to me, now that was good idea.

@Andy
Dates and times of posts seem to be correct for me.

Not for me I posted this msg at 18:31

Edit: and the forum shows 16:31 - 2hrs difference

@Andy
The site makes an AJAX request to get your browser's time offset and uses that to display dates. If they are not correct, try logging out and then back in.

When the search function returns
Quote:Sorry, the search found no results.
(quite often, sadly), the search inputbox deletes the keywords entered previously by the user, hence denying the posibility to edit the search terms, and forcing to start over.

--------------
Edit: Jeez, looking for "hat", the search throws arbitrary results containing the word "that" ...at this point Im coming back to google with site:garagegames.com

Actually, why not fix the old broken google search instead of this one? everyones knows intuitively how to search in google, besides the obvious benefits of not needing to reinvent a well known wheel.

While we're on the subject of search...
-Can't use symbols, which means that searching namespaces (with the :: operator) doesn't work.
-Advanced search parameters don't suggest formatting, like the date. If just typing '2009' doesn't work, I should know why.
-What Novack said - that one is extremely annoying.

Been doing a lot of searches lately :)

Ive noticed the color change on the Members name rectangle, denoting the person status, Employee, Associate or Member.

It feels kind of visually agressive.

There is already implemented something to denote that, I mean the G for employees, and the red T logo for members. Making a new one for associates, or any other new category, there would be no need for harsh color changes.

I don't mind the colour changes. The dropdown list is still a bit funky. Some people (even in this very thread) has a Torque icon, but no products listed.

I like the black for the employees, but the yellow for associates is a little ... er ... yellow.

True, I think the yellow is the most startling.

OK, I found an associate tag. That yellow has to go - just as shocking as The Banner of Largeness :)
