Announcing The Igc07 Garagegames Band Jam

by Evan Lally · in General Discussion · 09/04/2007 (1:28 pm) · 51 replies

Hey folks! We've been doing a lot of planning for IGC07 and don't think we'd forget to add a lot of fun into it. That said, we bring you the next round in the IGC Indie Band Jam!

What we currently have on deck: one crazy electric guitar, a drum set, bass, some amps and speakers -- oh, and that most important ingredient, plenty of beer.

What we need: songs to play, musicians to play them, and an audience to drink the beer. Are you up to the task? Because there's rocking to be done!

So, who's up for a little jamming and a little planning?

So -- Ben, Ken. Which of you wants to do the second set? Ken, I think you get first shot, as Ben's already on four songs and you're doing bass on two -- but it's up to you two to decide. Either way, the second set of three needs to decide what songs they're going for -- Sean, Kelly?

That said, thanks for working that out with Jason, Ben; more information is good information and all that. :)

Also -- Ben? That was painful. :p

Got it, we're going to tune down a half-stop for every song...

So with Ben I'm going to be playing Sunshine of Your Love and Born to Be Wild

As for the other set I'm part of I want to do Hard to Handle and Tush... Or we can rock Takin' Care of Business if you guys aren't ZZ Top fans.

Thoughts?

I'm cool with just doing the bass on Paranoid and Rock n Roll all nite.

@ Sean

Nix on the Tush, it's not a song song Jason knows well enough to bust out with little precious practice time left.

So -- Hard to Handle and Takin' Care of Business for the Sean, Ben, Kelly group then? Kelly, any thoughts?

Kelly; at this point, it's a question for Paul Dana, as he'd be the one you'd be swapping with.

Paul? Thoughts? You'd go from Sunshine Of Your Love and Born to be Wild to Takin' Care of Business and Hard to Handle.

Just got the nod from Paul; the swap is on. By the way, Kelly -- could you toss me an e-mail at evanl-at-garagegames-dot-com? I've included you in our e-mail threads, but the e-mail address for you is one I got from Davey that might be a little bit old. There's some handy stuff to be had. :)

Current line-up:
Ben-Sean-Kelly - Born to be Wild
Ben-Sean-Kelly - Sunshine of your Love

Sean-Justin-Paul - Hard to Handle
Sean-Justin-Paul - Taking Care of Business

Ben-Justin-Ken - Paranoid
Ben-Justin-Ken - Rock & Roll All Night

Evan emailed me and I said I would be glad to play Hard to Handle and Taking Care of Business.

Since Justin only wants two tunes, the current line-up actually seems to be

Ben-Sean-Kelly - Born to be Wild
Ben-Sean-Kelly - Sunshine of your Love

Ben-Sean-Paul - Hard to Handle
Ben-Sean-Paul - Taking Care of Business

Ben-Justin-Ken - Paranoid
Ben-Justin-Ken - Rock & Roll All Night

Which, by the way, shows me currently playing on all six songs. I didn't intend to connive my way into all the tunes, if anyone is feeling slighted there is no trouble for me to surrender a song or so. I don't mind playing them all, I'm in love with this darn instrument, but still, just don't want to be unfair.

Oh! yes, yes. Sorry, Ben, Justin -- I had made that note earlier, but somehow it's never on whatever set of notes I'm looking at when I post here.
