Is this a legit site?

I'm currently finalizing negotiations with a 3D modeler who was recommended to me. He wants payment through the above site.
I mean no disrespect to the modeler but I've never heard of the site and want to make sure it is a legitamate site before I use it.
So, has anyone in the community heard of it or used it who can maybe verify that it did them no harm?
Thanks.

Ive never done transactions with iKobo, but if you want my opinion, the site looks legit. actually the program looks pretty nifty. looks like they have a credit card which the funds can be transferred to automatically. the modeler probably has one of those ikobo debit cards with them if hes requesting payment specifically through this site.

I've learned the hard way that even if a site looks legit, don't count on it. If you haven't heard of it or feel uneasy about it, go with something you are familiar with.

actually, I would prolly if I was scared like this, just transfer a small amount to myself via a fresh new account.
or tell the artist to pound sand, one of the two.

According to the guy he has one of their cards and he is not in a Western Nation. What made my radar go off is he says he can't use paypal where he is and I don't know much about the situation in that country to know. This and Western Union are the 2 payment options he requested.

Western Union is a favorite among scammers.

Contact Visa/Master Card and ask them it they do in fact verify iKobo (as the front page claims).

I too live in a country where Paypal is not an option. No one can send me money, I can just fund account myself and use for online purchases. Probably the guy lives in Eastern Europe like me where many money processors still operate very very carefully.Havent used iKobo myself, though.

However, it is the artist who's getting paid. If you get the art FIRST, and then pay, then what's the problem? You have the art, and the artist may or may not manage to get his money out of the ikobo people. His choice. Use a one-time credit card number (virtual number) to put the money into the account, to avoid unintended re-use.

You could always get a US taxpayer ID number (which you can get even as a foreigner) and use that to get a US bank account with some internet-friendly bank, and use that to create a PayPal account. As long as you keep your spending in the US as well, it's easy, but sending money from the US checking account to your country of residence may be expensive. However, it is the artist who's getting paid. That is the best idea I have heard so far. I forgot all about the "pay and play option. And you as the consumer have no bank account info at risk.
DERN good idea.
why bother going thru al lthe hassles of calling around, and such when you can use a "throw away" card.
Hey Alan. Does the throw away card work for your needs?

Is it a question of whether the artist is legit? Have you seen screenshots of the art he was supposed to do? I wouldn't send any payment without seeing what I'm paying for. If he refuses screenshots, then walk away.

We were working out terms prior to any exchange of art or money. I asked him what service he wants to use for the money transfer after he makes the art.

Sorry,I don't know about that site.To know that site legit or not,I did a whois search for Treasuretrooper.com from http://www.whoisxy.com/ and found owner details. It looks good only. And i visited the site http://www.scamadviser.com/ and it showed "Low Trust Rating. This Site May Not Be Safe to Use." so don't use the site. You can try using Google and find another good site, then start using that site. You can use this method for finding a whether a site is legitimate or a scam one.
