Add-ons and trigger-based ledge detection

by bumblebuns · in Torque 3D Beginner · 05/16/2016 (8:24 pm) · 2 replies

Hi, I'm new to Torque and game dev in general, though I have some coding experience and I'm learning 3d art as well.

The game I have in mind would involve some pretty typical run-and-jump type stuff, including grabbing onto ledges. I understand from trawling the internet that many game devs have used an editor script to crawl over the level meshes to detect ledges, adding triggers that serve as grab points. How would an editor script for creating/modifying objects like this be accomplished in Torque3d?

On a related note, I'm having some trouble finding information on what exactly Add-ons are and how they are implemented. Are there any resources that describe the development process for an add-on? I've searched the forums but I can't find any discussions on the development of add-ons.

Thanks for your help!

Hello nice to make your acquaintance ,
Sorta quoting from my rather old book , An add-on is a/some new or extra module/s which has been added to your game by another person . For instance if you create/add a module which is used for detecting an edge of an object or structure or terrain , then , to my understanding , it is referred to as an add-on . have a nice day ... bumblebuns :) lol
