Hello torque3D developers? pls help me out. i plan on making a clone of the MIT engine torque3D with minor improvements. however i am stucked trying to figure out what powers garagegames confer on me as regards their torquescipt. since MIT allows me to rename the engine and do whatever i want with the code, can i possibly do the same with the torquescript? is it even possible to start with? thanks in advance

Yes that is allowed. The MIT license grants you many rights of which to use the software. Just note that: There is absolutely no warranty of any kind, you cannot remove the copyright statements (but allowed to append your own), cannot claim you made the work/software yourself (related to stripping copyright holders names from source files, etc..), and due to trademark law cannot re-use the name Torque 3D (without permission / contract / license from GarageGames) in an official capacity (however usage in working on forks and contributing to the project is allowed).

I'm definitely not a lawyer, this isn't legal advise, but just some clarifications as to what you probably need to watch out for. Probably a good idea to consult a lawyer for legal advise if you're not in the United States to go over the (rather simple) MIT license with you, such as you don't feel comfortable understanding it yourself.

Thank you. I am in Nigeria and along with a team of developers, we plan to make a software that allows local teachers with access to little or no education/teaching resources make interactive simulations easily and throw it on the board. (e.g a very large terrain of islands and valleys landforms in a geography class) we added our own copyrights to the codes, we gave credits to garage games and torque3d even in the 'definition of our project' we also gave credits to various persons from torque3d forum like the maker of the 'dark UI theme' janders. documentation for our mould is also a modified torque3d documentation removing and adding stuffs as it may be necessary. are we possibly doing anything wrong so far?

Quote:like the maker of the 'dark UI theme' janders

If I remember correctly it was I that 'made' the DarkUI based on the existing T3D GUI, not Janders.
Though I would never claim I'm the maker, I simply modded the whole thing.

See here for the original DarkUI files:
