UAISK and the latest T3D

Hi,

Is UAISK still for sale and compatible with Torque3D 3.x?

I just did a search on the store and apparently it seems to be gone. I have asked in the private UAIK about this matter for you.

I use it without any issues in T3D MIT version 3.51

Hopeful we soon know more.

Best,

I went to his own website and send him a message about this. Let us wait and see.

Thanks Dwarf King. Looking forward to that confirmation. Do you think it will work with the latest version, and is that 3.8?

I am not sure about 3.8 as I have not tested that one yet. It is on my list but I am using it in 3.51 without any issues.

Also Twisted Jenius who made the UAIK has not replied so far to my message on his website and on the private forum here...

I hope he will not just let this good tool disappear into the void. I have asked him if we would like to open source it if he is not interested in selling/license it anymore.

Let us see.

He has not answered yet. He is sadly very quiet....

Looks like that you will have to look at this instead:

It is free and made by Richard Ranft. Not bad for a start. Of course the UAIK has a bit more in it such as friendly NPC and helpers etc.

Sigh.... I wish Twisted Jenius would answer the mails and threads.

Another solution is this one:

it can be bought at this site:

I have not used it myself but it seems that many like it. I personally prefer UAIK.

You could also do it all by yourself after reading through the AI tutorial from Ranft.

Doooh!!!! I almost forgot the best of them all. This book though old is really good:

Advanced 3D Game Programming All in One

Remember that you want the CD to be included otherwise the book is not that useful(the .cs files :O) )

That book has some real good ideas and examples around:
AI in Games, Artificial Enemies, Interactive AI and Group Behaviors. I have it myself and whenever I have needed to tweak the UAIK I have consulted that book for advice and ideas. Damn good book.

Once again this shows why keeping TorqueScript around is the right choice... Hei PHP/C like syntax is beautiful :O)

Okay that is all the help I have for AI here.

All the best.

Thanks King. I could check that book next time, but right now I need a complete AI solution for a game that I'm trying to create. The tactical kit looks nice but I'm leaning towards to a more NPC and RPG approach and it seems that UAISK is what I need.

Just wanted to report that UAISK seems to work with 3.8. You have to add the AImarkers from within the object editor Library. Using the UAISK UI to add bot causes crash. I will try to test further.

Nick, if your looking for something to mess with, before UAISK, twisted jenius made the Improved AI Guard. I got that working and packaged it with "Friendly AI" from Maximillian Brewer. I just checked they work with 3.8 and can be downloaded in this post here.

The Improved AI Guard is like a super-lite version of UAISK. Just Guard and Chase behavior and the AI is fairly stupid.

Thanks Jason, glad it is still working with the latest T3D. will definitely check that Basic AI Kit out.

I'm still curious on the UAISK licensing, as DwarfKing mentioned you can not get support anymore.

Would be extremely cool if it went MIT and just became a part of the engine.

Suddenly thought that this you might welcome:

And it is all free :O)
https://github.com/BadBehavior/BadBehavior_T3D

It is a AI behavior tree system. UE4 uses something like it. Behavior trees are very fun to work with. Granted I have not used this behavior tree for T3D but it is a free tool.
