Really, Torque is not a very easy game engine for the person who jump into Torque3D from 'Stencyl' or 'Scratch'That is the mistake i made. Also i doesn't had an IDE. I used Notepad for scripting, so i hated scripting. I tried to Use visual scripting like STENCYL, SCRATCH forever.
Now i know scripting and programming are most important for developing softwares and games. Today i have made my first C++ Program(The first). a 2D pong game. it will be better if garage game make a free scripting IDE for torque script. Torque Dev / Codeweaver (i am currently using) have a lot of bugs.
I Undestood Changing game engine is not the end. i have to learn it.(i have Fight against TorqueScript and win TorqueScript).
Quote:Torque 3d is not very easy. I have to code everything.I'll like say about above correctly
for player data block. install a tool. add a player. so i
need a more easier game engine.
I decided to use Unity 5.
it's also free. very popular.
made a lot of games. it's used by popular companies.
example NASA, Imangi.
I doesn't started it. i need to discuss with other
torque users
should I use UNITY 5 ?
Is it easiyer than torque

That being said I do think that many newcomers go at T3D a bit wrong at first. I did myself, I'm still a newcomer really. Wrong is the wrong word, I just am in a hurry.
I think that Torque has a pretty steep learning curve and many of us try to jump right in and go for it. I will say that after I have taken smaller bites, it is much easier to chew. After things start to click it becomes a lot quicker to prototype and what not, however I have not used Unreal 4 or Unity 5, so I am not comparing here.
Many of the things I need to learn would be things I need to learn for any other engine, like animating in 3D Max/Blender, setting up LOD in 3D Max/Blender.

Heck, Unreal 4 is free now too so give them both a try, whatever gets the job done. You are young and there is no need to feel constrained by any one engine! I wish that these options were available even 10 years ago. This is really a new golden age for Indie Devs. That being said I do think that many newcomers go at T3D a bit wrong at first. You did not even seriously try anything yet, how can you make decisions?

Like Jason said on any engine you need to learn almost the same thing and
this is called "game development" so you need to stay a few months to learn and
this is true on any engine.
BTW How old you? what language you speak?
what game you want to create? fps? rpg? mmorpg? rts?
I will try to help you, but god! try not use this as room chat hahaha

Duion is right you not even tested the engine, how you can compare to others engine? Like Jason said on any engine you need to learn almost the same thing and

You have to decide what you want to do, is it modeling, level design, programming, whatever, since you cannot do all at the same time and each field takes a lot of time to learn.

Finally, Torque has also been used by big companies (NASA, Ubisoft, EA, The US Government, and so on). When you try out Unity, you will have to learn C# or Javascript, because you will have to code to make a proper game.

Be prepared, because you are misinformed about a few things. Unity 5 does not have visual scripting. You cannot create models in Unity. Unity is not entirely free (if you make more than a certain amount of money, you must buy the engine). Finally, Torque has also been used by big companies (NASA, Ubisoft, EA, The US Government, and so on). it has good graphics. can do anything by scripts.
100% free for anything.
but I am a beginner. I still using torque 3d but
I have to learn a lot.

Torque is Good.
I Know Torquescript.
But i'm Alone. no any game developers in
my city. My friends have computers. but they
don't interested in game development or

Unity and UE4 have massive communities. Unity especially has user groups all over, including India. Could even be a Tamil group out there.

@Xspeed - what you can do now is ignore all the brow beating and find out for yourself whether there is a better alternative for you. Unity and UE4 have massive communities. Unity especially has user groups all over, including India. Could even be a Tamil group out there.

And just because you choose Unity for now, doesn't mean you will use it until the end of time. You are not locked in forever. You can pick Unity for one project, Torque for another, Unreal Engine 4 for others, etc. Just know that no engine, including Torque, is a perfect solution. Game development is hard, engines have bugs or are missing features, and a learning curve is always present.

@Xspeed - StuporMundi summed it up well. You should be the one to pick the engine. I think mainly everyone here is just trying to get you the best info you need to make the decision, though a couple people could use a course in manners. And just because you choose Unity for now, doesn't mean you will use it until the end of time. When Source 2 comes out it will also be free to use so yet another option will enter the arena. The one caveat is a released game must be on steam though non-exclusively. Not much of a caveat since Steam is a no-brained.

If torque wasn't multiplatform. Because I need

I try to use blueprint, and C++ inside engine. It make me feel complexity when do huge AI task. I change mind back to Torque3D and Still love TorqueScript.

I already try to change Torque to use UE4. But after test First Person Shooting game, the network of UE4 is not good, also collision detect too. I saw it detect collision on client first then notify to server to confirm. It is make more possible for hacker.I try to use blueprint, and C++ inside engine. Many developer in Cambodia use Unity because it easy for multi-platform, I already test unity too and don't like to use it.

it need to be MultiPlatform
I guess T3D source code can compiled to any
OS. am I correct?
Need an easier Script.
Or A Visual Script Add on.
C# is easy to use. but how torque script was?

At the end of the day decisions such as this will determine whether you can make a game and will be of benefit to you not to anyone else. Given that one can determine the right decision simply by looking at the game engines concerned and testing them it would be an error on your part to accept anything anyone states about these engines as being fact. Go and try Unity 5 out.
