Decal Bias issues?

Ok so here is our object above a decal (no issue) decal is on a ground plane.

Here is the same object at the same height as the ground plane.

as we know this is due to decal bias in the level info. Changing it yields these results.

notice the value in level info.

But when you stand up

Decal disappears..

Any ideas?

hmmm, my best guess.... the soldier character is taller than your bias setting. Now, it's been awhile since I did any work with decals, so I AM actually guessing here.

This does bring up an interesting subject though. (and I even brought this up when I was on the steering committee). Why is it that many 'levels' use a simple 1 to 100 or whatever scale and others use a .00000000001 to 1 scale? I find that annoying. Not a deal breaker but, annoying.
