Water Fog Issue?

by Paul Yoskowitz · in Torque 3D Professional · 12/31/2014 (5:34 am) · 4 replies

What settings can I use to get a nice waterfog around the player? Im very possibly not understanding the settings needed to cause this. I can see the caustic effect on the ground (so that's working), but the fog doesn't seem to be acting correctly. I was thinking I could get an effect like the distance fog, but maybe im mis-understanding HOW it should work.

I found that the baseColor has an impact on how the fog will appear.

Something like:

waterFogDensity = "1.8";
waterFogDensityOffset = "0.6";

may look nice with baseColor that is light enough.
If the color is too bright you might need to decrease the density a bit.

ok, I think I see the difference now, underwater isn't a "fog" per se... as it is a "darkening of the water". so yes, if that's what its supposed to do, it does work but it its not a "fog" like the name makes u think (ie: its not "murky" water)

no, fog will brighten up your water if baseColor is bright enough to do that.

otherwise, it could darken it yes, but that would be a different dark than you would see with underwaterColor or wetDarkening

fog does what it says though; it makes it cloudy... hard to see through

yeah, and i guess the word "fog" made me think it would be more like the normal fog and make it REALLY cloudy

something like this
