IndieGoGo to re-create experimental FPS ROTC: Ethernet using Torque3D

by Michael Goldener · in Torque 3D Beginner · 01/16/2014 (1:04 pm) · 17 replies

Hi everybody,
over the course of the last 10 years or so I used the Torque Game Engine (1.5.2) to develop a small freeware FPS game called Revenge Of The Cats: Ethernet (www.desura.com/games/revenge-of-the-cats-ethernet).
I'd like to continue development of the game as an open-source project using Torque3D-MIT, so I've set up an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign. If funding succeeds, I will be able to go to work full-time on creating version 1.0 of the yet unnamed open-source version of Revenge Of The Cats: Ethernet, set up dedicated servers for the game around the world and create an independent player database.

I'd really appreciate any kind of support. From spreading the word about the campaign to any tips you might have how to make the campaign more visible (its visitor count remains very low).

Here are some additional links:

- Official Site (it was hacked some time ago, so it's very bare-bones right now)
- Player Chat (IRC)
- Revenge Of The Cats: Ethernet @ Linux Game DataBase
- Revenge Of The Cats: Ethernet @ IndieDB
- Revenge Of The Cats: Ethernet @ Twitter
- Revenge Of The Cats: Ethernet @ Facebook

Thanks :)

Sent a bit of money your way!
I really wanted the chocolate bar, but you would probably just end up paying so much for the chocolate and for sending it to Denmark, that I decided on not taking that perk.
Thats my first advice! Even though the chocolate bar is a great idea, do some research on how much it costs for buying and sending the bar, and write it explicitly on the perk so contributors can see how much of the money goes to a gimmick and how much actually goes to the project.

There ya go, I kicked ya 50 bucks. Great game concept.

Also, When your ready I can host a dedicated on the Winterleaf Entertainment L.L.C. network. No charge, I'll just fire it up on one of my virtuals.

I didn't want the Candy Bar, but I wouldn't mind the free accounts :)

There are only 9 days, this still can be achieved.

I want my chocolate send to Spain!!!

@Lukas
You are right, the cost of shipping can be a very nasty surprise for a crowdfundig

@Michael Goldener

you might get some more pledges if you would change the license from gplv2 to well mit or bsd.

Anyways gl with the funding.

@J0linar: Those who pledge at minimum of $10 (Player / Developer / Supporter pledge) can use the game source code under a more liberal license of which is a major advantage to pledging for this project in the first place. Everybody else will be using the game under the General Public License.

Thanks Luis :)

Like I wrote to you a while back, if funding succeeds, I will contribute a chunk of the raised funds back to your campaign once it goes live.
