Working on a Small game to raise money for my son in hospital

Hey all I'm DylaNemesis, Novice to Torque 3D and only starting to understand a lot of it.

I started to work on a Zombie game based on a zombie resource made while ago and importing it to a newer version of torque.
The concept is its a Free-for-all deathmatch where you not only need to worry about the other players but all so the large amount of zombies spawning from random zones in the level.
I haven't been spending to much time on this only really a couple hours a day for a few days and i have no money to really get some professional help for it.

The goal is to make an open-sourced Zombie game to help raise money to help cover some of my sons medical bills and donate the remainder to the hospitals charity

I'm Looking for members of the community who want to help with the project maybe even donate some of their resources to help make the game better

Remember this was made in 6 hours and is very early stages

here's my sons story

* After a seemingly perfect pregnancy little Lyam was born 11 days overdue but was a nice 8 pound 4 ounce baby.
* Everything went perfect he came out and everything seemed normal Then they took his blood and found out he
was low of his sugars
* They then brought him to The Ottawa Hospital (the one he was born at) NICU to give him some sugars and to test him.
* There they found out he was having very mild seizures and wasn't moving half of his body after a few hours they called it and had him transported to CHEO (Which is connected to TOH by a few hallways and Ottawa U medical campus)
* There they hooked him up to a machine to check his vitals Then they saw that he was having seizures fairly frequently.
* They then ordered a ultra-sound to be done on his head. There they found a pressure build up on part of his head.
* They then ordered medication for his seizures to see if it would help him.
* It did but then his breathing stopped.
* They then hooked him up to a machine to breath for him.
* Then they had to put a breathing tube in his nose because he wasn't taking the mask very well
* They then ordered a MRI to be done on him after that they discovered that parts of his brain aren't(and haven't) been receiving oxygen or blood they called it Hypoxic - Ischemic Encephalopathy
* We were traumatized.

I could probably create a few features for you - what do u need? Do u have a feature list?

What way do u want the levels and missions to play out? Look like?

Any sort of idea on what kind of style you would be going for in terms of artistic look?

From my pov there would be a chance to get this started thru a kickstarter
campaign - why not? ppl are get funded for wothless stuff
and this would at least give those ppl a "i did something good" feeling.

I can't quite see the style of the game as I'm using my phone but if you want some 3D environment art then I'd be more than happy to prepare you some. Let me know

Few things we need to know in order to help out properly mate:

Weapon list - list of what weapons should be available in the game.
Locations - an example of the locations u want the players to be in like a village or a science lab or something like that
Features / modes - what features are going to be specific to this project, are players going to be able to play as the zombies or are they always going to be against them, are you going to let the players choose a co-op game style or is it always going to be free for all
Art - what you want the players to look like - do u want a post apocalyptic look or a look that suggest this outbreak of the undead has only just happened
Player capabilities - are the players goin to have special abilities depending on their class? Do u want to have ingame communications between the players?

Fulfill even just a few of these and we should get a more clear view of what u want as an end product -

Jolinar has the right idea about kickstart campaign but I would say just be very careful how you word this project. As many people know about the pricks u find on the internet some people may see it as a scam - this is not my personal view btw I'm only saying this to prepare you if go down the road of a kickstart campaign.

@DylaNemesis, I would be happy to help you out with any scripting and/or code issues you may have, just send me an email or post your issue here on the forums, and I will respond asap.
I wish I could donate my IPS resource as well, but it doesn't mix too well with open sourced games :)
However I can support you with some ad-hoc code changes if you need any!

First I apologize for any grammatical errors and spelling errors, I have dyslexia mixed with a slight bit of depression.

@Thomas For weapons- Pretty much what ever we can get(i suck at rigging animating thus that's why I used the weapons pack)but I would like sort of like modern weapons.

location- Its going to be a large variety of locations, at the moment they are kinda dingy enclosed areas that are trying to add suspense sort of like "crap what was that! if i turn this corner will it be a player of a zombie!" I hope to eventually have a large open Map that will have more zombie spawners and such, but until then its like Nuketown from black ops, a couple of floors to a large hotel, a cemetery or a museum.

Modes- Well this one may be a pipedream but I hope to have a few modes, one of which I want to be like DayZ(you have to scavenge for weapons and food in a large zombie infested city) one that's like Killing floor(you're on a team and need to survive the onslaught of zombies as long as you can) Teamdeath Match, free-for-all DeathMatch, and Capture The Flag(Like the original Unreal style)

Characters- the zombies just started to rise from the grave so a couple of cops(maybe swat), rednecks, soldiers, and regular guys/girls, so ya just everyday people a few that have fighting background.

and no specials based on class, maybe have classes to have a different start weapon and different amounts of armour, I'm looking at an old resource for it and trying to bring it over and have it work.

@j0linar Kickstarter was an idea I was kicking around but at the same time it seems like a bit of a waste i'm not really raising money for a project as much as money for my son, and most people I find what something in return. so if this game is finished I will start up a kickstarter or IndieGoGo. i was told to GreenLight what i have just to spread the word once I have a couple of levels down

@Tim that would be amazing and it would help out a lot. I have a couple of people helping out with some environment but they are beginners too.

I am happy to help any way I can I'm still new but I think if Rift support is enabled there would be many willing oculus rift users from the oculus subreddit willing to donate to the cause.

I will download what you have so far and have a look and see if I can think of other things that could be added.

For environmental art it would help to know what you require. Could you provide a list of assets that you're looking for and perhaps some links to images etc for style and we can take it from there.
