Thread rules:

  1. No commentary or you will be shamed. Perhaps using a pet shaming type site. Or perhaps GG can temporarily add the "lame" badge to your avatar.
  2. Your post must begin with: "I can't believe Torque doesn't have" and you must complete with a witty/sarcastic item, phrase, etc. You can vary on the theme of this pre phrase, but it must be funny.
  3. If you cannot think of anything don't post. This is meant to be a way to unwind and not run into a rant of complaints.
  4. If you MUST post then just put in a stupid, silly, clean joke of some sort. It will have the same effect.
  5. Posting silly game related videos perhaps of funny bugs during development will be okay.
  6. Remember no commentary. That way we don't get into a p*ssing match or diatribe about engine deficiencies. There are other threads for that. Keep it positive and fun.

I can't believe Torque doesn't pour me a drink when I need one! %)

Edit: Did you really count the amount of characters in the title to make it exactly fit on the forums category page?

Quote:In the old days, when Microsoft first invented C, the syntax for calling functions involved more parentheses; this was after their market research indicated that most C programmers would be coming from a Lisp environment. Later, when Kernighan took over the language design (right after AT&T bought Microsoft's language technology), he decided to eliminate the parentheses, but the old form is still allowed.

I can't believe some of the advice in that FAQ... :P.

What the FAQ?!? Gee, I'm sure glad they still allow more parentheses - I have way to many left over from this garage sale I was at and I've been trying to use them all up....

Fortunately, TorqueScript also allows more parentheses. Now all we need is a "Consume all spare parentheses" button.

I can't believe Torque doesn't have a "consume all spare parentheses" button!
Wait, it has the function:
function consumeSpareParentheses(filename){
  exec(filename);
}
Just need a button. Some assemblery may be required...

I can't believe Torque doesn't come with a tax break or a healthcare plan.

Definition:
assemblery
as.sem.bler.y

1. A programming language representation of opcodes or super sets of opcodes on a CPU.
2. The tool used to convert an assembly language to opcodes on a CPU.

Synonyms:
assembler, assembly

History:
As computer science has evolved so has usage of the English language to define computer science. This is an inevitable result of language changing to meets the needs of the users. This is similar to C++ that tends to add things to the programming language based upon whim and fancy.

In general computer scientists work very hard to reduce the amount of ambiguity of a programming language when new concepts are added. However, in the case of the English language the field of computer science analyzed the language (English) and determined that ambiguity is the norm. So when faced with the ambiguity of the terms assembler and assembly as used by computer scientists they felt these two terms were polluting the English namespace with 2 ambiguous terms. So the jargon term 'assemblery' was created to formalize the ambiguity of the two terms, and to reduce the pollution of the English language namespace to one term.

There is some contention about adoption of the term. It looks like the Open Source community and academia has accepted this term, but it not expected that Microsoft will support this new formalization of 'assemblery' any time soon. Keep this in mind when reading EULAs and signing contracts with that company and other companies that are not expected to accept the formalization.
