Is there any interest in creating a website similiar to 3DBuzz for the Torque products?

I've just read your profile.
You've been around for quite some time now. It seems like you on a similiar path that I've been on!
Which enigne to use!
Yeah, I've been browsing the web for engines the last 6 years, and like a gigilo, I blame that on my lack of productivity. I have since cut the engines to:
TGE 1.4 Though navigating the menu system is a nightmare, I like it better than T3D, and to be honest, am a lot more productive in that system than T3D.
T3D When I finally get the learning curve out of the way, I'll do projects in that system
Unity3D At first, I turned ny nose up at this guy, but someone told me to look at it, and grudgingly I did, (and with the help of 3DBuzz) found it amazingly simple to program.
Blitz3d While this is not an engine, its BASIC like syntax and speed of execution are tremendous. I'll have my first two games done with this in about two months. Nothing amazing, but publishable.
and finally...
3D Gamestudio I wanted this ever since the days of DOS. Next year, (My tax refund is going to pay the deposit on a rental) I' will finally have my wish. This is the closest thing to UNreal. (Even though UDK is No.1 in the list of game engines, it really doesn't impress me that much, and besides, I couldn't get the free version to run on any of my machines anyway)
...and the graphics
Blender Like you, I refuse to learn how to use Blender since I was already in love with TrueSpace, but the lack of animation support, plus the inablity to convert the file format to .dts made me look into alternatives. After BlenderCookie, I will consult no other package than Blender. (Yeah, I was looking at Carrera as well)
and then there are GIMP and Paint Shop Pro.
So, have you done anything yet?

Haven't been around Torque for some time now. The MAJOR lack of focus by GarageGames for nearly a decade was a major put off for me. I'm hoping that with Torque going open source, it will change all of that. It appears that things are starting to pickup again around the community.

3d Gamestudio
Blitz3D
Unity
Unreal
C++
VB or
even Java.
What artwork have you created? Are you into music? Do you write code?
etc. etc. etc.
It doesn't necessarity have to be donw with the Torque engine?

A pologize for the confusion Mr. Tengu, but I meant have you done anything yet with ANY language/engine, whether it be:3d Gamestudio
Blitz3D
Unity
Unreal
C++
VB or
even Java.

The same is for CryEngine, no matter how many AAA titles they boast of and how much they boast of Free SDK to get more users on board, the newbies will immediately realise they are doomed. The FREE SDK that Cry boasts of needs user Login everytime they start the Editor and its features limited incl. Inability to compile.
ShiVa 3d looks great, they say "the Editor is PROFESSIONAL", its users like the way it is but its a crap, your Project Files show up in the list of ShiVa 3d files (in editor.eg. Assets scripts) most of all, VERY unfriendly to newbies.
UDK, never got to try it, my Laptop has Intel GMA onboard does not support SM3, only SM2 supported.
Leadwerks, not as popular as T3d/Udk/unity/cry, uses C++ and LUA,$200 MULTIplatform.

3d GameStudio? That uses Lite-C isnt it? The Gallery has some jaw dropping screenshots but yeah its limited if one downloads the FREE Version, most crappy part is that you cant even compile unless you get PRO.The same is for CryEngine, no matter how many AAA titles they boast of and how much they boast of Free SDK to get more users on board, the newbies will immediately realise they are doomed. Unity, very easy to get along bcz of its IDE/Editor, very popular.
GameBryo, Game Engine used by RockStar to create "Bully", you'll have to contact its SALES "dept"(in simple words, just contact the Co.) to taste it.
And well, There are other GEs: Grit 3d, Panda 3d, 3d Rad.
There's drag n drop FPS Creator, DarkBasic, etc

Dont know much about T3d right now, just starting out in this Engine, but the IDK what its called ... The FPS Arm tweaking feature(i saw it in the T3d intro video) is something that made me download this Engine.Unity, very easy to get along bcz of its IDE/Editor, very popular.

Yes I wish I could afford Gamebryo, as one of my favs uses it to create their RPG's (Bethesda Softworks, the Elder Scrolls series the latest being Skyrim) Them and researching too many game engines are what is keeping me unproductive.
Anyting by the DarkBASIC crowd I have given up on!
I've limited my choices to the following
The Garage Games products:
TGE 1.4 T3D
Unity3D
3D Gamestudio
Blitz3D
Visual3d.net simpley because its made for MMO development and it has a visual scipting IDE much like Unreal.
I couldn't get Unreal to run on any of my machines, otherwise I might use that one, but I see that 3D Gamestudio's IDE is similiar to Unreal's
Amnyway, about the topic of this thread, what do you think about a website similiar to 3DBuzz?
Are there just too many engines out there on the market to make it feasable, or is there enough interest in it to make it profitable?

Just for eg. Lynda has been in the training business for a long time now but there are its competitors too: VTC and Digital Tutors are i believe its main competitors.
Also there are so many products related to CG and so many Game Engines, these fields are attracting more and more people everyday. It wouldnt be wrong to say that theres no such thing as monopoly here and i dont think there ever will be bcZ what one likes, another maynot, this is true for websites such as 3dbuzz too.
With this in mind, i think Another website like 3d buzz has lots of chances to succeed provided it carries on reasonably long enough and contains quality contents to get customers on board.
But yeah i'm not a Businessman who has studied the current market but i feel market is the way i have written, atleast thats the way i think it is.
About the Game Engines, there are so many of them but i have developed liking for T3d and Unity.

Well "torrent" sounds illegal, but what can you do when the company does not even give a LITE version/demo to play with. I dont know if its Seeded but its old version and i believe a trial version on top of that, so you wont violate their Copyright/s when you download and install.
But T3d and Unity are the best(atleast its so for me).

Also you could just use Torrent sites to get a taste of GameBryo, you can download the torrent for GameBryo 2.3 (old version now) from http://kat.ph/ (just search for GAMEBRYO).Well "torrent" sounds illegal, but what can you do when the company does not even give a LITE version/demo to play with. Since I am a frequent visitor to the 3dbuzz site, I know that they do more training than game engines. (Its basically how I learned Unity) and as for Blender, BlenderCookie taught me 90% of what I needed to know about that package!
Anyway, with T3D on the market and now free to download, is it worhthile to start a video series for TGE 1.4?

Quote:No, not really. Doing so would only introduce further confusion between the older (newcomers will not have access) and newer (free open source) engines.

I'm currently working on a Torque website, Torque3d.net ... I'm building a blog on GG about it currently to take tips and build a small group of people to help me design it.
