Now that we know iT2D is currently "standing still" .. a CE discussion (shut down feb2013)

iT2D is at a current stand still that will last at least a few months..perhaps longer..perhaps indefinitely for it's singular form of being iT2D. Hence the following discussion..
Scott takes over iT2DCE
----------------------------------------------------
Now that both the legacy updates and the new T2D MIT have been released it's time for a bit of housekeeping.
As I said back in October when I put this up it was only going to be temporary until the updates and new T2D had shipped. Now that we've reached that point it's time take this repo down. The few improvements that were committed to this are already present in the 1.6 update. So no one has to worry about losing any useful code.
I'll leave it up for 2 weeks and then the repo will be deleted.

I have already started merging our C++ code changes into the 1.51 preview edition, but I guess I can do that again, its not too bad.
We are wanting to target iPad, have multiple scenegraphs (3) in the main game area, and would like it that if the user flips the ipad over, that the game rotates to look correct. We would prefer to run on iOS 4 if possible for iPads that are not updated to iOS 5.
If necessary, we would rather run on iOS 4 iPads and lose rotation support, then the other way around.
Knowing all this, what should I run?
iT2d 1.50
it2D 1.51 preview
iT2d 1.50 CE
iT2D 1.51 preview CE
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Hi there, I am a bit confused about the best edition of iT2D to use to ship our game "Drip Drip" in the next month. I have already started merging our C++ code changes into the 1.51 preview edition, but I guess I can do that again, its not too bad.

Question, will an app get rejected if it doesn't have the rotation support that the GLKit integration in the CE version provides?
Scott, pull access please for "kauaiBlake" on gitHub, since it looks like we are going to use the 1.50 edition that Paul put up.

Ok to answer my own question a bit, it seems like 1.51 is out because of bugs it introduced. We are considering using the CE version of 1.5 to get the rotation support, and dropping ios 4 support which seems like 10 to 15% of the market. Question, will an app get rejected if it doesn't have the rotation support that the GLKit integration in the CE version provides?

Regarding your question about rotation support and rejection, Apple used to have a guideline stating that rotation support was required for iPad apps. After looking at the guidelines recently, though, I can't find anything like that. I submitted a universal app in September that did not support rotation at all and I didn't get rejected.
There is a bug that Conor found with Game Center and rotation, though, and Paul's GLKit thing fixes it. If Apple sees that bug, they probably will reject you for it since it reflects negatively on the platform.

So, the announcement of Torque 2D MIT kind of changes things a bit. It's late here, so I'll wait until tomorrow to post my thoughts on this thread.
