Torque 3D Community Edition Activation

by Michael Hall · in Torque 3D Professional · 06/05/2012 (2:36 pm) · 134 replies

In order to provide a more centralized location for those seeking access to the Torque 3D Community Edition post your request with an email address here in this thread.

  • Posting will allow Alfio, or other administrator, myself, to verify your Torque 3D 1.2 license in order to allow access.
  • The purpose of the email address is to have a point of contact in which to send the invite to the Trac and SVN service.
Once you've accepted the invite and established your account with the CE you can edit your post here and remove the contact information if you have any privacy concerns. Also, take note that the CE is currently based upon the Torque 3D 1.2 codebase. Unfortunately this does mean that 1.1 licensees cannot be granted access at this time.

EDIT: 10 September 2012
Until such time as the CE is brought in-line with the T3D MIT open source model we will still have to restrict access for the CE to T3D 1.2 licensees only.

@Gibby: I used the email address listed for your profile.

@michael: we can only accept 1.2 licensees into the CE group until such time as it is ported to be MIT compatible.

@all: A MIT compatible port is being worked on, but instead of the bulk all-in-one port that I was originally intending I've opted instead for a more modular approach. There is a T3DCE organization on GitHub that anyone in the CE can be added to (just let me know who you are), as well as the new free users in the community. Once the MIT port is complete, it will be up to those users who wish to use Github to keep it maintained, as I will only do so sporadically. I'll be blogging about it soon(ish) just to let everyone know more about it.

Hoping this will be less buggy than the MIT version. :)

SFG has 3 Studio licenses of Torque 1.2.

@William McDonald: I'm having difficulties accessing the CE admin panel from the poor connection at my current location. Hopfully Alfio may be paying attention to this thread. If he doesn't process your user information and account creation before then it will be tomorrow (Thursday) before I will have a chance to.

I would like to apply for SVN access for CE.

My email address is in my profile page.
I have also signed Open Source Software Agreement to contribute to GarageGames Open Source Projects.

@Dusan Jocic: the code for the CE is still based upon T3D 1.2, so that means the SVN repository has to remain locked to 1.2 licensees. However, there is a work-in-progress port to the MIT license that everyone is free to check out on GitHub.

Due to other commitments and my duties for the open source steering committee I have fallen behind on the porting process. No one else involved with the CE seems interested in helping, but hopefully I should be finishing it up during the holidays ahead.

@Vincent: some changes have been ported to the MIT version, some others didn't meet the Steering Committee's higher standards.

@Dwarf King: you may have to wait for Alfio to step back out of the shadows. Honestly I don't even know if the CE repository still exists.

@all: I am no longer part of the CE project and consider it long dead.
