by CD Projekt RED · in Jobs · 05/11/2012 (8:06 am) · 15 replies

Imagine a place where spells and technology combine to create a mature fantasy world. Imagine an office, where tempting sorceresses and brave knights combine their effort to make real magic happen. Sounds great? Well, that's our workplace at CD Projekt RED. We're looking for people, who will work on a great fantasy RPG, so prepare to play your role in creating a dark fantasy realm.

If you can't stomach dwarves, elves or sorceresses who put their ample charms on display in Playboy magazine, we've got something special that might be right up your alley! We're looking for people who would rather work on an entirely new and different IP - a vast RPG for which we want to assemble the best possible staff. It represents an opportunity for you to create a grand new project from the ground up! So apply away, make an effort to join us and apply your talents to creating a game you yourself would want to play!

Wow I'm impressed that you guys are approaching the indie developers. Though I'm not at all surprised. I don't really fancy living in Poland for 2 years, but I wish you all the best of luck with this project. After the Witcher games I know you can make another mark in video gaming history.

Wow Dan, really? You must be doing well.

I, as I'm sure many other people here, would gladly move to the dark side of the moon for the oppertunity to work on a real, commercial game project.

Nah, I just hate moving. Also my portfolio isn't very complete yet. But mostly I just hate moving.

I would think about it but this "Please also include the following statement with your application: „I hereby consent to the processing of my vital and personal data in so far as this is required under the recruiting process, in accordance with the Act of August 29, 1997, on the Protection of Personal Information (JoL no. 133, item 883).”
Makes me leery, never seen or heard of that being required on a job applcation anywhere. Thats something that is required after your accepted. Plus the fact they want the best of the best and industry experience yet posting on an indie site doesnt add up. Just my two cens

Don't worry about that, Randy. It just means they will process you for food if you should die on duty.

Just kidding! It also applies to off-duty hours :)

(That act is what separates Europe from America - you won't stay on file forever, and they'll only store what they need to potentially offer you a job later in case they receive your CV now and pick somebody else. The "in so far as this is required" bit is also working in your favour if they should screw up and you want to make a case out of it. What's considered necessary here is rather limited, fortunately.)

Well I have buddies working at Crytek in Germany no of them have ever heard of this being required on a application form . Also have never seen seen this on any job in europe before which is why i question it.

That particular law is a Polish variation of similar things in other European countries (not just EU!), so it might look unfamiliar to Germans ;)

But some countries have laws requiring all sorts of permissions to be explicitly given, or else the employer can get in trouble. It's nothing nefarious. Dig a little on the web, and you'll at least find that reference. The gov.pl pages aren't loading at all for me, but the summaries are decent enough.

Well it might be ok but I think I will pass, I applied for a postion for a company in Switzerland and at Crytek never had to sign anything like that. But perhaps due to the fact they were internships might have been different.

Ronny explained most of it but I will describe the situation again:

This is Polish law and we have to include this short text in every job advert. It is to protect your identity and data and it's just to make sure we won't use it against you without your permission, i.e. it's just so we could read your CV, call you, contact you - ONLY IN REGARD TO JOB OFFER. That's it. There's nothing more to it. It protects your identity, even though it may sound weird.
