Joystick behaviour

Now that I have added joystick control to my game, there is sometimes happening a strange thing. When the game starts and you get control of the player it starts moving. After 30 seconds or so it stops and all is working normal. It also stops when you move the joystick in the other direction.
The strange thing is that this movement doesn't occur every time I start the game.
I think it has something to do with a joystick buffer??
I think so because I got some kind of an error in the console stating that the joystick buffer overflow. The problem is that I can't reproduce this error.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
I'm using Windows XP and T3D1.1 Beta 3 (modified but as far as I know not at this thing)
Thanks
