My first game ever with Torque?

Hello to all:
I am a psychologist and as my doctoral thesis I will make a simple video game in the lines of an adventure, point and click game or as a interactive story. My project is in the mental health area and the game would be freely available on a web site. I am looking for an authoring tool that makes things easy for me. I can learn some programming but probably I willl no have the time nor the habilities to design something complex. Luckly the game that I`ll make is not very ambitious, technologically spoeaking, a 2d, point and click, with some basic navegation capacity and that allows a basic level of interactivity will do. So my question is: is Torque the tool for the job? would it be too hard to learn?
Thanks
