Journal Land Pick of the Week
Journal of Ysaneya - Ysaneya announces and links to the download for the release of ASEToBin, the tool his team uses to export models from 3DS Max and see how they would look in the game. Now you can too!
Welcome back, dbaumgart!
From The Staff
* Gaiiden's Scroll - Weekly Sitrep unearths an old but awesome GDNet logo, and reminds everyone that there's still a contest goin on!
Project Updates
* Radioactive-Software - It's really hard to ignore a post from dgreen02, even if it is on a friday. As usual, prepare to be blasted with hi-res screenshots. Not that that's a bad thing - specially when they're so <strike>mouth</strike>eye watering
* Tachyon Wars - johny5 has a new video up of the battle screen view. Now he just needs lasers, explosions, and lots of "pew pew!" sound effects
* IfThen Software LLC - Newsletter: pumpkin carving contest on the forums; Cool D3D9 heirarchy poster; more iScribble artist sketches; Community section spotlights SAO, modding and Loradon Online
* Journal of Aardvajk - Aardvajk hs introduced an important new gameplay element to Squishy in the form of collectable cogs
* Oddgames development journal - O-san has submitted his iPhone app, Apple Catcher, to the App Store. Congrats!
* Merry Prankster Games - In addition to updates on progress with his Untitled SENG Game, gdunbar drops word about the open source audio API he's using, Audiere
* Journal of matt_j - okay, I still hate updates with no real meat to them but trippy-looking screenshots do get you some points. Some. More if they were bigger.
* The Broken Mind - Azh321 has his first Flash game up on Newgrounds. Pretty neat - one of those little games where you can lose 5-10 minutes without even realizing it. I hate those. But they're generally fun. So it's a love/hate relationship.
Game Dev Stuffs
* Journal of EDI - EDI has a short video blog on "the pitfalls and victories of a weeks worth of hard development crunch", along with a dev shot of the Selenite engine in action
* Phyletic gradualism - sprite_hound has a very brief and very pointed story on the "oopsie" factor of source control. It's not the same as backup.
* Mark the Artist Fights the Future - Prinz Eugn shoots a Death Star II laser at a space carrier and chops it in half. At least, that's what the cool artwork depicts. PEW!!!
Other Stuffs
* The Code Zone Bargain Basement Blog - johnhattan managed to teach his Macbook some new tricks, which he details. Mac purists, cover your eyes.
* Chronicles of the Hieroglyph - Jason Z is plugging GameX and the GameX Industry Summit. Why? Cause we're having a contest and giving away tons of cool stuff!!
