Journal Land Pick of the Week
On the path with a ramblin' man - This is something a little different. See I couldn't figure out a way to link to just one of jollyjeffers's posts this week, so here's just the whole blog with 5 days worth of updates on his work with tessellation and D3D11 Partitioning.
From the Staff
* Frisson - grhodes_at_work is finally able to get around to start working on interviews from the GDC. Stay tuned...
* The Code Zone Bargain Basement Blog - johnhattan has the results of the haiku book contest, and gives some tips for next time. Because there will be a next time
* Gaiiden's Scroll - weekly sitrep from Gaiiden: getting arrested over the weekend; remembering Eric Dybsand; leverage twitter/facebook (need feedback!); Adobe week; Daily GDNet poll results
Project Updates
* Journal of dbaumgart - dbaumgart shares some more artwork from two of his projects: Dungeons of Dredmor and Aragon Online
* Milkshake's Dev Diary - Milkshake experiments with toon shading and decides how he would like dialogue to work in the game, dropping the idea of speech bubbles
* Memoirs of a Graphics Engine - jochenstier also talks about lighting in his engine Geist3D, along with a downloadable executable
* Journal of MrCpaw - MrCpaw spent the weekend banging out a quick game just to see what he could do in that amount of time. The top-down space shooter that resulted is up for download
* The Bag of Holding - ApochPiQ has made some progress with Epoch and lists a ton of features for Release 7
* Digital Playground - OrangyTang has had to make some decisions on the screen resolution of his game after realizing going HD and wide-aspect made maps too visible and hurt the searching aspect of the gameplay
* Level-Grind Online - JWalsh has some really nice looking concept art for Level-Grind Online. Give your eyes a treat. They're also still looking for help on the concept art and 3D modelling side.
* Journal of zedz - zedz has been spending the last week working on a new game, an RPG/RTS. He shares a recent screenshot and a lot seems done already
* Oddgames development journal - O-san has tweaked his Iso engine to make the shadows crisper when zoomed out
* Happenings with VBStrider and Crew - this weeks newsletter: Loradon 3.0 progress reaches 69%; the programmer goes over an AABB collision issue; a new section showcases some game art; the community discusses April Fools and some SAO slowdown
Game Dev Stuffs
* mittentacular - mittens' latest essay covers the topic of challenge in games and the balance required to prevent the player from constantly becoming frustrated with the gameplay
* epic.fail - evolutional shares that a new beta version of GameMonkey Script has been released, v1.25l, with details on some changes
Other Stuffs
* DruinkJournal - Evil Steve now has a patch for playing Red Alert on Vista as well
Be sure to swing by and say hello to Zipster, who finally started up his journal to write about his team's entry into Dream-Build-Play 2009.
