Tribal Trouble is a fast paced humorous real time strategy game with a fairly simple yet very challenging gameplay. Your job is to lead your cartoonish and somewhat clueless kinsmen (be it Vikings or Natives) to victory by eliminating all other tribes.

The battles take place on an infinite number of randomly generated islands with varying terrain, climate and size. 2-6 human or computer controlled players can compete at a time and join up in teams to cooperate. Every time you start a new game, you can change a number of parameters that will affect the terrain shape and resource distribution. This allows for billions of different maps, and you can always replay a map by writing down its unique map code.

Winning requires successful managent of your tribesmen: You must construct quarters and armories, defend them with watchtowers and make sure your peons constantly bring in new resources to produce more weapons for the armies you keep sending at your enemies. The fighting can get quite frantic when hundreds of units start throwing spears and axes at each other - add to that a few maniacal chieftains with magical special attacks and the chaos is total. The computer generated maps feature lots of height differences and narrow passages to allow for some tactical opportunities when planning your attacks and defense lines.

Tribal Trouble contains a set of tutorials to quickly teach you the basics of the game. Once you are ready for some real mayhem, you can compete against computer controlled players of varying difficulty or join an online game to test your skills against other human players.

Tribal Trouble also features a campaign mode with an ongoing storyline: In the first part you must help the Viking chieftain Fjorleif as he and his recently stranded men attempt to loot some of the local Natives' gold statues. In the second part you switch roles and guide the Native chieftain Ngumba and his tribe on a pillaging trip to The Cold North in order to get the statues back and teach those Vikings a lesson about stealing other people's gold statues.

Game Tunnel - Overall: 10/10
"Tribal Trouble is my favorite RTS of 2005. Oddlabs conquered my heart with a game that's both simple and fascinating. I'm still amazed that, after my first online experiences, I was actually looking forward to playing it again the next day... and the day after... and the next day after that one... If you want a break from the narrative strategy games that flood the market at the moment, or if you want a game that's really just a game, or if you think complexity takes the fun out of casual gaming - then Tribal Trouble is for you."

Macologist - Overall: 4.5/5
"Tribal Trouble is an excellent first game for Oddlabs. They have put a lot of effort into the game, and it shows. There's a in-game updater which will update the game without having to manually download and install a patch, which is definite bonus. With an infinite combination of random single player maps and up to five AI or human opponents, Tribal Trouble's replay value is high and is reasonably priced"

Gamenikki - Overall: 9
"[...] Tribal Trouble is good. So good in fact, that I had to keep reminding myself that I was playing an indie game. It has a number of ambitious goals, and it accomplishes them with panache. Undoubtedly one of the best RTS games we've played in a long long time, and that's including the professional market."

"I really cannot complain about this game. It is a lot of fun, the resource management is right at the level that I like it, and the action is impressive. You can use Tribal Trouble to get a quick fix if you are short on time, or you can delve into the campaign mode and spend a night of gaming bliss. [...] If you are into RTS games, you will definitely find something to like about Tribal Trouble. If you've been afraid of the genre, or just have never given it a chance, check out Tribal Trouble. It might just make you a fan."

Game Tunnel April 2005 Indie Game Monthly Round-Up Gold Award - Score: 8/10
"This is an extremely approachable 3D real-time strategy game. Kind of a dumbed down Warcraft your mom could play. With random level generation, up to 6 human players, online rankings, and a devoted development team I don't think you can go wrong here."
