Product Manager

Sr. Web Developer

GarageGames is looking for a Sr. Web Developer to join our entrepreneurial and creative team. The developer will be working on our web portal, http://www.instantaction.com. The ideal candidate is innovative, creative, highly energetic, and has experience with the technology behind great web sites. A passion for development and providing the best experience to a wide and varied audience is a must-have for this role!

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team building scalable web applications
  • Use test-driven development practices to ensure code correctness
  • Document code, track and fix bugs, respond rapidly to emergencies in production environment
  • Work with product group throughout development cycle to ensure quality of end product
In addition, the following are major pluses, but are not required:
  • Experience with PHP5
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience using MVC frameworks
  • A passion for web development that goes beyond working hours
  • Experience with SVN, CVS or other version control system

Sr. SDK Developer

GarageGames is looking for a Publishing SDK Developer to join our entrepreneurial and creative team. The developer will be working on the SDK used to integrate game executables with our web portal, http://www.instantaction.com. The developer will be the technical maintainer of an existing SDK, and will work closely with game and infrastructure teams to draft and develop new features that will be rolled into future versions of the SDK. The developer will also be responsible for maintaining documentation of the SDK, and for developing annotated examples of using the SDK with various languages and game engines.

Candidates must have several years of professional experience and a solid understanding of C++. Initial development will focus on Windows, however Mac and Linux support will follow.

The ideal candidate will be very customer oriented, passionate about supplying a well-documented, easy-to-integrate SDK to third-party and internal game developers. Candidate would also be place a strong emphasis on problem-solving, and willing to work with game developers in addressing any integration issues which occur. Strong English writing skills are also required, and will be utilized writing developer-centric technical documentation for the SDK.

In addition, the following are major pluses, but are not required:

  • Previous experience maintaining an SDK.
  • Cross-language bindings (e.g. SWIG, JNI, Python/C, etc.)
  • Game development experience.
  • Inter-process communication.
  • Javascript and DHTML
  • ActiveX/Mozilla Plugin development.
Requirements for this position:
  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.

Quality Assurance Analyst

We are seeking experienced Quality Assurance professionals to provide an exceptional experience for users of our InstantAction platform (http://www.instantaction.com). Open communication and daily interaction with Development, Operations, and Project Management is expected to engender a congenial work environment in which all participants are set up for success. The ideal candidate has a background in testing for web applications and testing video games.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute testing on a daily basis across multiple components and features. Document test plans. Prepare manual and automated test scripts. Testing includes functional, compatibility, and regression testing on multiple web sites and games.
  • Report progress of testing through timely issue reporting, summary reports, and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Document steps to reproduce, work with Development to resolve, and verify fixes. Determine cause based on the tools available.
  • Reproduce user issues which impact the success of products and work collaboratively with other departments to remove those impediments.
Requirements for this position:
  • Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and personal organization skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ideal candidate demonstrates personal accountability and pride in quality of work.
  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or similar technical field preferred, or equivalent work experience. Ideally work experience related to software testing.
  • Ability to work full-time and on-site at the GarageGames office in Eugene, Oregon.
Beneficial, but not required:
  • Experience with test automation tools and load/performance testing tools preferred.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++, C#, PHP, JavaScript, Python, Ruby.
  • Experience with configuring Linux/Unix web servers preferred.
  • ASQ certification a strong plus.
