A big hole in HNGamers (an updated file upload site)

Introducing HNGamers new file handling site! This site is replacing the old HNgamers Unofficial Torque uploading system that mirrored EB's site. With EB's shutting down the uploads and the other script having a security hole, this left us in a quandary. I believe that the unofficial file system provides the community a valuable resource and should never be removed or hindered in anyway. This creates a huge problem for users trying to locate old files and resources days/weeks/months/years into the future.

I am uploading all of the files that were in the mirror, this should provide access to the files. The URL's to the individual files will change unfortunately; however, the new site functionality should provide an easy way of locating these files. Owners of these files should register an account and then report the file is theirs. I will then associate the file with your account so you can manage the files.

Whats the same about the new resource?

  1. It's still free, always has been, always will be!
  2. There are still public/guest downloads!
  3. It's still dedicated to Torque!
  4. It's still hosted by HNGamers! (our mirror at least)
  5. It contains the same files!
  6. The URL is the same!

Whats different about the new resource?

  1. It's a new website!
  2. User accounts!
  3. Per user uploads!
  4. Private File system!
  5. Public File system!
  6. File uploading and deleting!
  7. Facebook, Twitter, StumbelUpon and Delicious Publishing!
  8. Twitter Publishing!
  9. 100 Megs per user with a new VIP system for more space!
  10. 25 Meg uploads!

An HNGamers Resource for Torque indie gamers.

This is great! Where would we be without people willing to do this?

Sean, can you clarify, is it 100MB per user, or 100KB per user? I went to upload a file, around 7MB, and it failed. My account dashboard seems to indicate that it's actually 100KB, but your post here indicates otherwise.

It should be 100 megs per user with 20 meg uploads, I just changed a setting, try to see if you can upload that file now. The web server is setup to accept a 2 GB file, so if anything is blocking it, it's the website atm.

Hmm, I think you may still be off by a 0 in your configuration, since the dashboard in my account settings now says 0 / 9.7 MB used. But it's hard to say if that's the only problem since my upload is also getting to 100% and stalling, and at this point it should be small enough to fit, even with a 10MB limit. - but maybe if you're off by a 0 on one, you're off by a 0 on the other (10 storage/2 upload)?

I found that the settings are a bit wacky, the display is in Bytes, but the uploads are set to KB. I just verified that I could upload up to a 25 meg file.

Huh, that's very strange. Additionally, my dashboard just switched back to reporting a 100KB limit. I tried uploading again in a different browser, just to be safe, and encountered the same issue.

I just removed the file size limit for now, this way you guys can upload up to the maximum user limit. I tested the uploads in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer just to make sure it all worked. The display on your profile page is wrong, I will get that corrected.

@Thomas, I fixed the display on the Account Status page to show the proper amount for your account. There was an issue between how the math for verifying user file size and the display size were being done. Have you been able to upload your file?

I've gotten to 100% in the loading bar and then had it hang every time I've tried it (Windows 7 + Firefox, OS X Lion + Safari/Opera). I don't see anything in my web developer console to indicate a script error either.
