TGB unresponsive, sluggish in vista.

I have posted about this before, it seems the issue I have doesn't coincide with the issue anyone else is having. My game (if I could feasably get one to load in the builder) doesn't crash, it is just slow, like "wait for this program or close it" slow. The TGB does this when I minimize it, or another window hides it. My Vista machine is Buisness 32 with quad core intel running on a geforce 9800. Not slow by any means. I have tried various things suggested in forums:
not installing to program files.
Run in compatibility mode.
Disable Desktop composition
Run as administrator.
All that does nothing, the program will finally appear, then I can goto create or open, when windows in TGB start coming up it slows down. If I minimize it, and then click to restore it (this is just the builder not a game running full screen), it will be many seconds before it finally comes up, and just hangs a bit before it draws anything.
I did update my drivers for my card (to the best of my knowledge) AND have tried both D3D and OpenGL renders. The Version is 1.7.4. It runs fine on my mac..and a win xp machine I have tinkered with it. I need it to run on my vista machine.
I have no qualms about diving in and recompiling the code, but so far saw only this:
http://www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/74471
that might help with my issue, but not sure cause as I said, it never crashes. This is making me go batty. As far as whats running in the BG that might mess it up:
Chrome for web browsing and Sophos Anti Virus...thats about it. Other people with vista32 business have had no problems with the same setup as mine so I am truely perplexed. I am desperate too...I need my main dev machine able to run this so I can get some work done on the game. Any suggestions, I will try anything short of standing around the computer in a grass skirt and dancing. Hell I might even try that...
Oh I have even tried this with both aero on and off...
Any help here would be awesome,
Cheers!

In a project, I click runo n the project. Takes a long time for it to come up...when it does its animating, window has focus etc... can even play it. Minimize game project to goto another window I can goto anything else thats not torque instantly, like say a web browser, or an explorer window. Though if I click to restore the minimized torque window it takes FOREVER...its like the events in windows are getting lost. I will click on torque game builder and then goto another window and do stuff like type this message out in this forum here...then a minute later the torque game builder will finally restore, if I happen to be clicking and keeping the windows focus, its all good...if I happen to of been clicking onto a diff window as the TGB comes back from a minimize state then its again more waiting...
so perplexing.
Oh and no other game runs that poorly, some games will thrash the hell out of the harddrive (windows vista does this really good but it doesnt cause them to run poorly, choppy, or even load overly slow). I can run Red Alert 3 with all things cranked up without it breaking a sweat.

I got the latest, 190 I think it was. Just installed it. Also went to gameswindows and got the latest direct X. More like vista said it was the latest. Changed everything in msconfig to get rid of everything that I thought was non essnetial. Rebooted, and ran, same issue. It runs okay up until the first minute I minimize the TGB or alt-tab to a diff window infront of it. Again it doesnt crash..its odd an example:In a project, I click runo n the project. Could be a silly artifact of how PrtScn works but who knows... figured I would paste it for completeness.

In a strange twist of fate, I decided to capture a screen grab of me trying to flip back to the TGB. What I saw on my end was me clicking on the minimized TGB then the window border appearing with title nothing else, it hung...so I went over start GIMP to paste the screen shot. As gimp was staring, the TGB finally restored and gave focus. I went back to gimp and cut and pasted what I had screen-captured (using PrtScn)previously and oddly enough the screen captured showed the TGB wierddd... link for reference:

Can you run the demos of other games made in TGB?

If they load, and i dont flip to another window, they run fine, up until I minimize them (if windowed) etc...or bring another window forward, then the slowness starts. They will "hang" then get going again usually...but lots of hanging.

If you want to be double sure, go to nVidia.com and just download the latest driver again and install it.
Update your directX from gamesforwindows.com.
Try running msconfig from your start menu, go to the startup tab, and uncheck every non-essential item. This includes unchecking things like your antivirus, quicktime and adobe updaters, -everything you can think of.
Reboot and try again, to see if by some chance one of those items was causing the slowdown.
Does anything else run slowly on your system? (graphics intensive games, etc.)
Try these and let me know how it goes.
