TSStatics dissapear from view!

I don't know how to describe this technically, and therefore, I am not sure if it has been reported or noted by anyone else yet:

I have a flat terrain ringed with mountains all around. I used the new set empty tool to create a hole thru the hillsides, which were almost vertical. I then placed a TSStatic mesh into that hole, such that half was on the inside of the mountains, and half poked thru the mountains and over the very outside edge of my terrain. When Gideon stands in front of the mesh and rotates, at certain angles and at certain distances, the mesh actually vanishes and you just see the mountains with the hole in them. At other angles and distances, it looks more similar to what you see when the gun pokes thru a mesh. Still, at other angles it appears as it should.

I do not know if the set empty has anything to do with this, but I suspect it might, since I have never had this problem before.
